Abstract

This study aims to describe students' creative thinking skills in mathematics. The type of research used in this research is descriptive research. The population in this study were junior high school level students in Bengkalis Regency, Riau while the sample was 59 students in the Bathin Solapan District and 50 students from the Bandar Laksamana sub-district. The sampling technique in this study was simple random sampling. The data collection technique in this study was a survey using a questionnaire instrument. Before the instrument is used, the instrument in the form of a questionnaire is validated in terms of content and construct. In terms of content, validity analysis uses the Aiken formula and CFA First Order, while construct validity uses CFA Second Order. Data analysis in this study used descriptive statistics. The results obtained from the analysis of students' creative thinking abilities in mathematics at the junior high school level show that the indicators of Elaboration, Flexibility, Originality, and Fluency in students' creative thinking abilities, obtain a good category percentage of 22.02% and a bad category of 77.98% .

Abstract

Mathematical skills are not only used in the world of education but also in various professional fields, such as science, technology, and economics. This study uses blibliometric analysis whose data source is obtained from Google Scholar and uses the keyword of students' mathematical ability in algebra material based on gender with a maximum of 1000 data.   Researchers analyzed 948 out of 990 articles from 2019-2024. This study uses Publis or Perish software for data search through Google Scholar and VOSviewer to obtain analysis results that are by the objectives of this research was carried out to find out the research trends of mathematical abilities based on gender and to find out future research opportunities. This study shows that the most publications are in 2023 with 200 publications. The results of the research provide recommendations for variables that can be researched in the future, namely algebraic thinking and high mathematical ability.

Abstract

This study aims to see the effect of the use of matrix box media on the understanding of mathematical concepts of grade XI students of SMAN 2 Bukit Batu. This study uses an experimental method with the design of Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population in this study was all students of class XI, and samples were taken by purposive sampling, with one experimental class using matrix box media and one class as a control class using conventional learning. This research instrument is in the form of a test of understanding of mathematical concepts. The data analysis technique was carried out by descriptive statistical data analysis and inferential statistical data analysis using SPSS 23. The results of the descriptive statistical analysis showed that the average ability of students at the time of the pretest was 55.66 for the experimental class and 55.75 for the control class, while the average result of the posttest was 71.50 for the experimental class and 60.31 for the control class. The results of the inferential statistical analysis carried out by the t-test showed a significance value of 0.003<0.05 which stated that there was an influence of the use of matrix box media on the understanding of mathematical concepts for students in grade XI of SMAN 2 Bukit Batu. These findings confirm that the matrix box media not only makes it easier to understand mathematical concepts, but also makes the learning process more active and meaningful.
