Abstract

One of the families of the Rutaceae family is the orange. But only three categories are mandarin, big orange, and lemon orange that are considered genuine orange. Citrus aurantifolia, lemon (Citrus limon L.), and lemon orange (Citrus jambhiri) are cross-fruit fruits of the original orange. The purpose of this research is to find out the variety of species and morphology of citrus plants (Citrus sp) that are in the Jabong region, Subang, West Java. The methods used in this research include field surveys, qualitative methods and descriptive methods of morphological analysis to determine existing species and varieties. Research results show that the Subang region has a significant diversity of the Citrus sp. family, with the discovery of several species such as Citrus aurantiifolia, Citrus limon, and Citrus jambhiri. (jeruk limau). Morphological analysis reveals variations in the size, shape, and color of the fruit. Such diversity demonstrates the great potential to produce superior orange cultivars of high commercial value and environmental adaptability to local conditions.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of grafting and budding techniques on the growth and success of avocado (Persea americana) plant propagation. Grafting and budding techniques are vegetative methods commonly used in horticultural plant propagation to maintain the genetic quality of the parent plant. The study was conducted using avocado plants with grafting and budding techniques on the rootstock. The parameters observed included the level of success of unification (compatibility rate), shoot growth rate, survival percentage, and growth in stem diameter and plant height during a certain period. The results showed that the grafting technique provided a higher success rate than the budding technique on certain varieties, with a survival percentage reaching 85%. However, the budding technique showed advantages in the parameter of shoot growth rate, especially on varieties with specific or better environmental adaptation. This study shows that choosing the right propagation technique, depending on the characteristics of the variety and environmental conditions, is a key factor in supporting the success of avocado plant propagation. These findings are expected to be a reference for farmers and researchers in optimizing the production of high-quality avocado seedlings.

Abstract

This study discusses the use of beluntas plants (Pluchea indica) as medicinal plants in Bojong Salam Village, Banyuresmi District, Garut. Ethnobotany investigates the interaction between people and plants, particularly in the context of traditional medicine. The people of Bojong Salam Village have long used beluntas plants as medicine to treat body odor, bad breath, back pain, and vaginal discharge. This study involved interviews with 30 respondents using a purposive sampling method. In data analysis, quantitative and qualitative approaches were used, including calculating the Use Value (UV) and Fidelity Level Index (FIC). The results showed that beluntas leaves had the highest UV value of around 0.5 and FIC of around 50% as a medicine for vaginal discharge, followed by other benefits as a medicine to eliminate body odor, bad breath and back pain. The results showed that beluntas is an important plant in traditional medicine used by the people of Bojong Salam Village.
