Abstract

One of the most common problems experienced by young women is menstrual pain, Lancau Wolio is one of the traditional ingredients of the Wolio tribe on Buton Island, Baubau City, Southeast Sulawesi, which is believed to reduce menstrual pain. This study aims to determine the effect of the traditional Lancau Wolio on the intensity of menstrual pain in adolescent girls. This type of research is Quasi Experimental with apre-post test only design with a control group design. The sample in this study were students of class XI SMAN 2 Baubau who experienced menstrual pain as many as 30 people into 2 groups, students who consumed Lancau Wolio (intervention group and control group (not consuming Lancau Wolio). The intervention was carried out for 6 days. Data analysis using the Wilcoxon signed test. The results showed there was a difference between menstrual pain before and after treatment in the group given Lancau Wolio with a p value of 0.011 <0.05. And in the control group (without Lancau Wolio) the test results obtained a p value 0.046<0.05 which means there is a difference between menstrual pain before and after treatment in the control group. Conclusion: there is an effect of giving Lancau Wolio on reducing the intensity of menstrual pain there are young women

Abstract

Background: Stunting in toddlers is a health problem that can hinder human development globally. This condition has the potential to increase the number of stunting toddlers for toddlers under five years of age. The purpose of the study was to analyze the risk factors for stunting in toddlers under five during the pandemic. Methods: This research is an analytical survey of case-control study design with a 1:1 ratio selected using a simple random sampling technique source of data from primary and secondary data collection. Bivariate analysis was performed using Odds Ratio and chi-square tests, and multivariate analysis was performed using binary logistic regression. Results: The results showed that the variables that had risk factors for stunting were history of infectious disease (OR=5.769; p=0.004), low birth weight (LBW) (OR=4.444; p=0.017), history of exclusive breastfeeding (OR=4.552; p=0.010), family income (OR=6.314; p-value =0.004), knowledge (OR=3.818; p= 0.002) and the most dominant risk factor is family income. Conclusion: Important to reduce stunting cases through cross-sectoral collaboration regarding the modification of health services according to the socioeconomic level of the community.

Abstract

Background: Pulmonary tuberculosis is one of the infectious diseases that has infected nearly one-third of the world's population, with many facing difficulties in its control due to a significant number of patients who do not achieve a cure. This is attributed to the challenge of pinpointing the factors that could serve as the primary causes. This study aims to predict the dominant factors contributing to the occurrence of pulmonary tuberculosis. Methods: This analytical observational study applied a case-control study design. A total of 30 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis were included as the case group, and healthy individuals without clinical symptoms of pulmonary tuberculosis were put as the control group. Data analysis used the Chi-Square test and binary logistic regression. Results: The research findings indicate a significant correlation between housing density (p=0.020<0.05), ventilation (p=0.009<0.05), room humidity (p=0,.000<0.05), lighting (p=0.002<0.05), type of flooring in the house (p=0.007<0.05) and smoking habits (p-value=0.001). The results of the multiple logistic regression analysis using the backward LR method indicate that room humidity (p-value=0.001<0.05) is the dominant factor in the occurrence of pulmonary tuberculosis. Conclusion: The incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis is higher among smokers living in homes with overcrowding, inadequate humidity and lighting, and dirt or wood floors. Room humidity plays a significant role in the development of pulmonary tuberculosis. Therefore, providing education on how to maintain and pay attention to the physical condition of the home is crucial to avoid the occurrence of pulmonary tuberculosis.

The COVID-19 pandemic has influenced the community's lifestyle, including adolescents’ behavior. One aspect majorly affected was physical growth, which encompasses several areas, including nutritional status and personal hygiene. Maintaining the quality of physical growth is very important, even beyond the pandemic. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on adolescents' nutritional status and personal hygiene. A literature review method was used through a bibliometric and content analysis of publications obtained from databases such as Google Scholar. The articles obtained were classified by publication year, study location, keywords, and journal titles. Based on the literature search, 11 articles were found on the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on the nutritional status of adolescents, and 10 articles discussed the effect on personal hygiene. After reviewing the articles, it was concluded that the pandemic influenced adolescents' nutritional status and personal hygiene.
