Abstract

ABSTRACT Elderly is a condition that will be experienced by every human being. The elderly will experience an aging process where the elderly will experience some decline in body functions, one of which is the musculoskeletal system. The elderly will experience a decline in functional abilities caused by degenerative diseases, one of which is osteoarthritis. Joint mobilization with the Mulligan Medial and Lateral Glide concept is a manual therapy technique that can treat joint pain, stiffness and joint dysfunction which can improve functional ability. This research is quasi-experimental with the design of the Two Group Pre Test and Post Test Design. The sample was selected by purposive sampling method and the number of samples for each group was 12 people in the treatment group and the control group. The tool for measuring functional ability uses the Knee Injry Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) questionnaire. Paired T-Test with 95% confidence level and Independent Sample T-Test. After being given the intervention, the results obtained in the treatment group and control group using the Paired Sample T-Test obtained a p-value of 0.000. The results of the Independent Sample T-Test obtained a p value of 0.000, the mean result of the Independent Sample T-Test in the treatment group was 22.58 while the mean result in the control group was 13.27. The results of this study can be concluded that joint mobilization using the Mulligan concept affects the functional abilities of patients with knee osteoarthritis in the elderly. Abstract

Background: Kyphosis is a change in the position of the spine which causes the surface of the back to bend less than normal, especially in pregnant women. (Mclester, J. and Pierre, S.P., 2008). Changes in spinal posture and an increase in abdominal diameter and sagittal diameter which shift the center of mass of the body to the anterior cause lower back load and pressure on the lower back, resulting in lower back pain felt during pregnancy. The lower back, namely the lumbar during pregnancy becomes lordosis and the thoracic becomes Kyphosis. Vertical balance has decreased. These changes in posture are experienced by pregnant women (Betsch, 2015). Changes in posture in pregnant women during pregnancy can cause lower back pain (Michoński, 2016). The correct way to treat Kyphosis is by doing exercises. Spinal mobility exercises Thoracic Spine Mobiliy Exercise is one that aims to improve the Kyphosis angle after exercise and corrects it significantly. Research by Nicola R et al (2020) showed that good muscle stability can reduce the risk of injury and can improve the Kyphosis angle after training and correct it significantly compared to before training, so that it can produce dynamic and strong dynamics. Apart from the Thoracic Spine Mobility Exercise, Core Stability Exercise can also be given for Kyphosis disorders, because it can make the core muscles work in harmony with complex contractions, so that dozens of muscles in the spine, trunk and surrounding areas will stabilize and reach a neutral position. during body movements and maintains a stable position in the vertebrae (the neutral zone). Core Stability Exercise also aims to improve the Kyphosis angle after exercise and corrects it significantly compared to before exercise. Method: This research is Pre-Experimental with a One Group Pre Test and Post Test design. Objective: This study was to determine the effect of providing Thoracic Spine Mobility Exercise and Core Stability Exercise interventions on Kyphosis Posture in Pregnant Women with a total of 23 respondents. Thoracic Spine Mobility Exercise and Core stability exercise interventions were given for 4 weeks, three times per week. Results and Discussion: The results of the Shapiro-Wilk normality test showed a p value >0.05 in each group of normally distributed data. The results of hypothesis testing after providing intervention in the form of Thoracic Spine Mobility Exercise and Core Stability Exercise, there was a significant difference, namely 0.00 (<0.05). Conclusion: After being given intervention from 23 respondents whose Kyphosis, 17 respondents became normal and 6 respondents started to improve, it was concluded that there was a significant effect on posture correction in Kyphosis patients after being given the Thoracic Spine Mobility Exercise and Core Stability Exercise intervention in pregnant women.

Abstract

Elderly with DM for a long time generally have a poor quality of life because it has a negative impact on the physical and psychological aspects of the sufferer. Due to the detrimental effects of hyperglycemia on nerves and connective tissue, hand function in terms of dexterity, hand grip strength and pinching, hand skills can be impaired so that quality of life, independence and activity in the elderly can be disrupted. Purpose to determine the effect of rubber ball training on increasing grip strength in DM elderly at Persadia Cipayung. Method is pre-experiment with One Group Pre-test Post-test design. This research was conducted in April - May 2023. Sampling used a purposive sampling method with a total sample of 32 people. The results showed that the average grip strength before the intervention was 15.08 and after that it was 16.75 with a maximum value of 21.4. The result of the p value is 0.000 (p < 0.05). Conclusion there is an effect of rubber ball training on increasing the grip strength of elderly DM in Persadia Cipayung.

Abstract

Fall is an accident that causes injury in elderly. The increased risk of falling in the elderly affects the mobility and independence of the elderly in activity daily living. Interventions for the risk of falling are dual-task training and providing education about the risk of falling. This study aims to determine the effect of a combination of dual-task training and education on the risk of falling in the elderly. This study used a quasi-experimental research design with two groups pre-post test. The sample was selected based on the purposive sampling method with a total sample of 34 people, 17 people in the intervention group were given a combination of dual-task training and education, and 17 people in the control group were given education. The risk of falling is measured using the Timed Up and Go Test (TUGT). The results of the paired sample t-test for the difference in measuring risk of falling before and after in the intervention group obtained p-value=0.000 (p<0.05). The independent sample t-test for the difference between before and after in the intervention group obtained p-value=0.000 (p<0.05). Conclusion from this research there is an effect of dual-task training and education on the elderly in PSTW Budi Mulia IV, East Jakarta.

Abstract

Background: Non-specific lower back pain (NSLBP) represents a significant subset of musculoskeletal disorders. Epidemiological data suggest a predisposition towards females as a risk factor. Physiotherapy has an important role in non-specific LBP conditions. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of GPR exercises combined with educational interventions in managing non-specific lower back pain among women. Methods: Employing a quasi-experimental design, this study utilized a two- group pretest-posttest methodology. A total of 36 participants meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria were allocated into two groups: Group I (n=18) received GPR exercises and educational interventions, while Group II (n=18) received only educational interventions. Pain intensity was quantified using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Interventions were administered bi-weekly over a six-week period. Results: Subsequent analysis using a paired sample t-test showed a significant reduction in pain in the intervention group (p < 0.05) and the education control group (p < 0.05. An independent t-test on the mean pain before and after intervention showed a significant difference (p < 0.05). Conclusion: There is a difference in the effectiveness of GPR exercise and education in reducing non-specific low back pain in women at LTQ Iqro'.
