Abstract

Content about beauty standards on various timelines makes beauty standards more entrenched in society. Women who do not reach these standards receive body shaming that has a negative impact. Coping strategy is forgiveness. This study aims to determine forgiveness in female survivors of body shaming. This study uses a correlational quantitative method with descriptive research methods. The sample in this study amounted to 91 respondents. The sampling technique used in this study was purposive sampling, with the criteria of UNESA psychology students, aged 18–25, had experienced body shaming. Data collection using a questionnaire. The instrument used was the Transgression Related Interpersonal Motivations (TRIM-18) scale. Data analysis used descriptive statistics with percentage techniques. The results showed that the level of forgiveness of female body shaming survivors was mostly in the moderate category. Furthermore, the aspects of avoidant motivation, revenge motivation, and benevolence motivation are in the moderate category.

Abstract

Konten terkait standar kecantikan di sosial media menyebabkan standar tersebut mengakar kuat dalam masyarakat. Perempuan yang tidak dapat mencapai standar tersebut menerima body shaming yang mana akan mempengaruhi kesejahteraan psikologisnya. Salah satu cara mencapai kesejahteraan psikologis adalah pemaafan. Peneliti menguji apakah terdapat hubungan pemaafan dengan kesejahteraan psikologis pada perempuan dewasa awal korban body shaming. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif korelasional. Sampel dalam penelitian ini 91 responden yang dipilih menggunakan purposive sampling dengan kriteria mahasiswi psikologi UNESA, berusia 18-25 tahun, pernah mengalami body shaming. Pengumpulan data menggunakan kuisioner. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah skala Transgression Related Interpersonal Motivations (TRIM-18) dan skala kesejahteraan psikologis. Analisis data menggunakan analisis pearson product moment correlation dengan bantuan SPSS 26 for windows. Hasil analisis menunjukkan taraf signifikansi 0,000 (p <0,05) dan nilai koefisien korelasi 0,591 (r=0,591) yang berarti terdapat hubungan positif yang signifikan antara pemaafan dengan kesejahteraan psikologis dan hubungannya termasuk sedang. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan hipotesis diterima yakni terdapat hubungan positif antara pemaafan dengan kesejahteraan psikologis pada perempuan dewasa awal korban body shaming.
