Abstract

Sanoi Village and Ronggaiwa Beach are villages that are located in Waropen District and are part of the province of Papua. Along the Sanoi Village Road and Ronggaiwa Beach is a road that runs along the coastline and is an accessibility route between villages and the logistics of maritime transportation which is an economic route of the Waropen District Government so abrasion handling must be carried out immediately. The study examines the extensive calculations and advance backward coastline and also the exploitation of the local wisdom of the community as an abrasion countermeasures. The research methods used to the objectives of the study are quantitative descriptive methods, spatial analysis, time series analysis and analysis of local intelligence indicators. Quantitative deskriptive analysis is by displaying field images and presenting width changes in coastlines and coastline backward velocities throughout 2012, until 2022. Spatial analyses using ArcGIS software and field observations. Time series analysis to observe the changes in the width and backward speed of coasts by looking at the 2012 image, up to 2022. Local intelligence indikator analysis is an analysis that identifies the local abilities that communities use in performing abrasion backwardness. The results of the research showed that there was a wide change of coastline and the rate of reversal of the coastal line along the year 2012 to 2022, in which four years once counted the area of blood abrasion and the speed of retrocession of coastal lines. Based on the results of observations found that the change in coastalline occurred due to the magnitude of abrasions that occurred in Sanoi Village and Ronggaiwa Beach. However, with the knowledge of local wisdom that the community possesses, it can prevent and control abrasion by using the environment to form the traditional talud that is often referred to as the local community with the name Talud Rufia.

Abstract

The Nutrition Garden Program in Yoboi Village, Jayapura Regency, aims to enhance the accessibility and availability of nutritious food within the community, as part of efforts to achieve the second Sustainable Development Goal (SDG): ending hunger and improving food security. This study aims to analyze the success rate of the program based on relevant food security indicators and identify factors influencing community participation in the program. The research methodology includes the collection of primary data through in-depth interviews with local residents and quantitative surveys, as well as secondary data from reports, official documents, and related literature. A comparative analysis with similar programs in other regions was also conducted to obtain a more comprehensive overview. The results of the study indicate that the Nutrition Garden Program has made a positive contribution to improving the accessibility and availability of nutritious food for the residents of Yoboi Village. Participants in the program reported an increase in the consumption of vegetables and fruits produced in their home gardens. Additionally, the program has raised awareness about the importance of balanced nutrition and healthy eating habits among the community. However, several challenges have led to a decline in community participation in the program after the Covid-19 pandemic. Identified factors include a lack of sustained support from local authorities, limited resources, and shifts in community priorities post-pandemic. This study provides recommendations to enhance the program's effectiveness through increased socialization, regular training, adequate resource provision, and closer collaboration with relevant stakeholders. In conclusion, despite the challenges, the Nutrition Garden Program has significant potential in supporting food security achievements in Yoboi Village. By implementing the given recommendations, the program is expected to operate more effectively and sustainably, thereby maximizing community participation.

Abstract

This research aims to model the impact of Green Open Space (GOS) on Carbon Monoxide (CO) gas levels in Entrop Village, South Jayapura District. Green Open Space plays a crucial role in improving air quality in an area. In the context of rapid urbanization and increasing motor vehicle numbers, GOS serves as the city's lungs, capable of absorbing pollutants and improving air quality. The research method used is spatial modeling, which allows mapping the distribution of GOS and measuring CO levels on the main roads of Entrop Village. Primary data was obtained through field surveys using CO measuring instruments, while secondary data was obtained from various literature sources and reports from related agencies. Data analysis was conducted using statistical and spatial approaches to identify the relationship between GOS and CO levels. The results showed a significant negative relationship between the extent of GOS and CO levels. The larger the GOS area, the lower the CO concentration in the area. Spatial modeling also identified high CO concentration points in areas with low GOS density. Furthermore, this research found that uneven distribution of GOS contributes to variations in air quality (CO) in different locations. These findings highlight the importance of effective GOS management as part of air pollution control strategies in large cities. Recommendations from this research include increasing the number and distribution of GOS in areas with high CO concentrations, and integrating GOS into urban spatial planning to create a healthier and more sustainable environment. This research makes a significant contribution to sustainable urban planning by emphasizing the importance of integrating GOS into spatial planning to improve air quality and environmental health. Thus, the results of this research can serve as a reference for the government and stakeholders in formulating future GOS management and air pollution control policies.

Abstract

Green Open Space (GOS) is an essential element in urban spatial planning that functions to maintain air quality and ecosystem balance. This research aims to analyze the influence of GOS on the concentration levels of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) in the urban area of Jayapura City. The study locations were focused on two areas with distinct characteristics: Jalan Sam Ratulangi, which has high vegetation coverage, and Jalan Percetakan, which is dominated by built-up areas and dense commercial activity. The methods used include spatial analysis utilizing Landsat 8 satellite imagery Band 4 (Red) and Band 5 (NIR) to calculate the NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index), a vegetation time series analysis from 2019–2024, and direct CO2 concentration measurements taken at three different times (morning, noon, afternoon). The data was processed using ArcGIS with the Kriging Interpolation method to generate spatial distribution maps of CO2 in both locations. The results show that Jalan Sam Ratulangi has a GOS area of 6.13 ha (94%), while Jalan Percetakan has only 2.95 ha (31%). This difference significantly impacts CO2 levels, with an average concentration of 484 ppm at Sam Ratulangi, which is lower than Percetakan's average of 567 ppm. The highest CO2 value at Percetakan reached 649 ppm during the afternoon, whereas Sam Ratulangi recorded only 488 ppm. This study proves that the wider and healthier the GOS, the lower the CO2 concentration detected. These results demonstrate that vegetation plays a significant role in reducing carbon emissions in urban areas, supporting the crucial role of GOS in maintaining air quality and supporting sustainable urban development in Jayapura City.
