Abstract

This paper departs from Q.S. At-Taubah [9]: 60 which requires zakat for a Muslim to be distributed to the recipients of zakat as a way to purify themselves. If we understand the verse textually, there will certainly be no significant problems, because the target of the verse is indeed relevant to the needs of the Prophet’s society 14 centuries ago. However, what if one of the eight groups mentioned in the Qur’an is no longer found today? Departing from this anxiety, the author wants to reinterpret the concept of zakat and the recipients of zakat with the Qirā’ah Muntijah approach of Naṣr Ḥāmid Abū Zayd. This paper is a literature study, whose data source is through the verses of the Qur’an that specifically discuss the concept of zakat. Then the verses are analyzed using Qirā’ah Muntijah which is then described as the result of contextual interpretation of zakat. The result of this paper is that the eight groups of zakat recipients in Q.S. At-Taubah [9]: 60 is a mustaḥiq concept that is by the social context when the verse is revealed. At that time the groups of zakat recipients as mentioned in the verse, still existed. Furthermore, the purpose of the verse is to empower weak communities in terms of financial needs, which was the need of the community at that time. In the present context, the verse can be allocated to other groups such as: the insane, the blind, the homeless, people with disabilities, the Palestinian mujahids, the students, the teachers, the domestic assistants who are abused by their employers, the lowly laborers who are still shackled by their employers, and the refugees of other natural disasters.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berangkat dari realitas masyarakat yang cenderung mengabaikan sifat terpuji, sehingga masyarakat kita perlahan mulai kehilangan sifat terpujinya. Pada sisi lain, Syaikh Abdul Qodir al-Jailani menyusun kitab tafsir al-Jilani yang bernuansa tasawuf dan di dalamnya banyak membahas masalah hati manusia, yang dalam hal itu tentunya menjaga hati agar tetap suci dan bersih dari sifat-sifat tercela. Sehingga sangat penting bagi setiap muslim untuk memiliki sifat tadharru’ agar terhindar dari kemerosotan moral yang dibawa oleh zaman.  Berdasarkan kegelisahan tersebut, penulis ingin mengkaji konsep tadharru’ dalam Al-Qur’an melalui sudut pandang tafsir Al-Jilani karya Syaikh Abdul Qodir Al-Jailani. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah jenis penelitian kepustakaan (library research), kemudian dalam mengumpulkan data penelitian, penulis menggunakan metode non-interaktif, dan dalam menganalisa data penelitian, penulis menggunakan pendekatan tafsir tematik. Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini menyebutkan bahwa konsep tadharru’ secara sederhana bermakna merendahkan diri dan hati kepada Allah SWT, dan dalam arti yang luas tadharru’ merupakan sifat yang dengannya seseorang mampu menjaga secara baik hubungannya dengan sesama manusia, dan mampu menjaga keistimewaan hubungannya dengan Allah SWT, sehingga seseorang tidak mudah dalam mengkafirkan orang lain ketika terdapat perbedaan-perbedaan penafsiran mengenai syariat Islam selama perbedaan tersebut tidak menyimpang dari Islam.

Abstract

This article aims to examine how the Rembiga community in West Nusa Tenggara receives and interprets the verses of the Qur’an within the Roah Kemalik tradition, which is deeply embedded in their social and cultural life. The Roah Kemalik tradition developed from the spread of Islam by figures such as Sunan Prapen and Ratu Ambiya and consists of rituals involving the recitation of Qur’anic verses believed to offer protection from disasters and calamities. This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive analytical method to elucidate the meanings and social functions of this tradition. The research questions addressed in this study are as follows: First, how is the Qur’an understood by the Rembiga community within the Roah Kemalik tradition? Second, in what forms is the reception of the Qur’an manifested in this tradition? The study concludes that the Rembiga community regards the Qur’an as sacred and deserving of sanctification. This tradition also serves as a process for the transmission and transformation of knowledge and practices that have existed since the arrival of Islam on Lombok Island. Generally, they interpret the Qur’an as a form of tafa’ul (a sign of good fortune); consequently, the meanings that emerge do not always align logically with the original intent of certain verses. The Roah Kemalik tradition is also grounded in several hadiths of the Prophet that legitimize the practice, which has been inherited and preserved by community authorities. This study affirms that the Roah Kemalik tradition is a dynamic social construct that harmonizes Islamic teachings with local culture, thereby shaping the religious identity of the Rembiga community to this day. Abstrak: Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji bagaimana masyarakat Rembiga, Nusa Tenggara Barat menerima dan memahami ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an dalam tradisi Roah Kemalik yang melekat kuat dalam kehidupan sosial dan budaya mereka. Tradisi Roah Kemalik berkembang mulai dari penyebaran Islam oleh tokoh-tokoh seperti Sunan Prapen dan Ratu Ambiya’, meliputi ritual pembacaan ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an yang diyakini memberikan perlindungan dari bencana dan musibah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif analitis untuk mendeskripsikan makna dan fungsi sosial tradisi tersebut. Pertanyaan yang ingin dijawab adalah: Pertama, bagaimana Al-Qur'an dipahami oleh komunitas Rembiga dalam tradisi Roah Kemalik? Kedua, dalam bentuk apa penerimaan komunitas Rembiga dalam tradisi Roah Kemalik? Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa komunitas Rembiga memandang Al-Qur’an sebagai sesuatu yang suci dan harus disucikan. Tradisi ini juga merupakan proses transmisi dan transformasi pengetahuan serta praktik yang telah ada sejak kedatangan Islam di pulau Lombok. Mereka umumnya memahami Al-Qur’an sebagai bentuk tafa’ul (tanda keberuntungan), sehingga dalam praktik yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat Rembiga, makna yang terkadang muncul tidak selalu sejalan secara logis dengan maksud asli ayat tertentu. Tradisi Roah Kemalik ini juga didasarkan pada beberapa hadis Nabi yang melegitimasi tradisi tersebut dan telah menjadi praktik yang diwariskan serta dilestarikan oleh otoritas masyarakat. Studi ini menegaskan bahwa tradisi Roah Kemalik merupakan konstruksi sosial dinamis yang mengharmoniskan antara ajaran Islam dan budaya lokal, membentuk identitas keagamaan masyarakat Rembiga hingga saat ini.

Abstract

This study will examine the verses of the story using the intertextuality approach is a necessity to see the extent to which the Qur'an communicates with its audience in an effort to produce the religious message it wants to convey. This study is a literature study, whose data source is through verses of the Qur'an and Bible that specifically discuss the story of Prophet Ibrahim and Job. Then the verses are analyzed using Reynolds' intertextuality approach, namely the concept of homiletics which is then described as a result of the connection between the two. The results of this study conclude that the intertextuality side in the narrative of the Qur'an and Bibel about the story of Prophet Ibrahim both allude to a figure who has debated Prophet Ibrahim. The figure questioned and doubted the power of God from Prophet Ibrahim. Whereas in the story of Prophet Job in the narration of the Qur'an and the Bible have editorials that look similar between the two. But in substance, between the two there are differences in the model of delivering the message.
