Abstract

The development of social media as part of new media encourages public relations practitioners to realize the importance of media in shaping the positive image of an institution. This encourages the institution to establish good relations with the media through special activities called media relations. Based on the previous description, the researcher is interested in further studying media relations activities in the public relations model. This study aims to analyze media relations in public relations practices at the Public relations Bureau of the Sumbawa University of Technology by using descriptive qualitative research methods to obtain structured and in-depth information. The theory used is the theory of excellence which adapts four models of public relations communication as a basis for analysis, such as press agentry, public information, two-way asymmetrical, and two-way symmetrical. The results of the study show that the Public relations Bureau of the Sumbawa University of Technology applies a public relations model that focuses on providing quality information to the public through various communication channels, including social media. The implementation of public relations at the Public relations Bureau of the Sumbawa University of Technology, there are indications of the use of four public relations models. However, the two-way symmetrical model is considered the best one in achieving mutually beneficial relationships between organizations and the public.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of the Forest Management Unit Brang Beh in managing natural resources within its jurisdiction, and to identify challenges in community awareness and readiness regarding disaster risk mitigation. Utilizing a qualitative research approach with a case study method, this study reveals a significant gap in public understanding of disaster risks and mitigation strategies, primarily influenced by insufficient communication and dissemination of adequate information. Research findings indicate that effective communication plays a crucial role in enhancing public awareness and participation in disaster risk mitigation. Communication challenges, such as limited access to official information platforms and inadequate disaster mitigation education, underscore the importance of adopting a more strategic and inclusive communication approach by KPH Brang Beh.

Abstract

This study was presented to find out how therapeutic communication activities between therapists and patients in the Indonesian Accupreasure Community in the Sumbawa area. The theory used is the theory of therapeutic communication according to Stuart, G.W., and Sundeen about the four phases of therapeutic communication, therapeutic communication techniques, and Egan's theory of therapeutic communication attitudes. This study is a qualitative descriptive study, whose data collection uses non-participant observation techniques, unstructured interviews, and documentation. In this study, informants were selected based on purposive sampling. Data analysis will go through the stages of data collection, data presentation, data reduction, and conclusions. The results obtained in the study through four phases of therapeutic communication among others: 1. In the pre-interaction phase in which therapists are concerned about everything that will be related to the practice process both patient and mental data from the therapist itself. 2. The orientation phase is used by the therapist as the first step in fostering a trusting relationship before giving the first diagnosis. 3. The working phase is that the therapist builds positive dialogue during the process of muscling. 4. Evaluation phase, continued communication between the therapist and the patient after getting the therapy action. Therapeutic communication is planned and professional communication, so it is important for the therapist to actively coordinate and harmonize the communication relationship between the therapist and the patient.
