Abstract

The aim of this exploration is to recognize the enormous use of representation in the first verse of the Al-Qur'an Surah Ibrahim, especially the words Al-Zhulumat and Al-Nur. The main point is to interpret the task of isti'arah in giving an uncertain meaning to a part which can give rise to various translations. Using a scientific-rational approach, this research method examines the text of the Al-Qur'an through language and literature studies, with a focus on metaphors, especially relevant metaphors. This research approach is qualitative, with data collection using the Library Research method (library research). This investigation also includes interpretive efforts to better understand how isti'arah can be used as a tool of understanding, namely the translation of Fahruddin Al-Razi's Mafatih Al Ghaib. Findings (1). The study involved various translations resulting from the ideas of Intisari and Majaz in the application of isti'arah (2). Fakhruddin Al-Razi underlined that isti'arah helps Muslims understand the Al-Qur'an by explaining the meaning of complex verses, especially the terms Al-Zhulumat and Al-Nur in Surah Ibrahim verse 1. Apart from that, this study also functions as a reminder the idea of content 'direction, which is not mentioned in the language of scholars but is present in the disciplines of tafsir and the Koran. Therefore, this research takes a dogmatic-ideological approach in studying the Koran while allowing for a rational-scientific approach.

The focus of this study includes aspects of the interpretive analysis of the two verses related to political dynasties. The issue of traditional legislation is the regulation of the distribution of power in a rough period because it only focuses on blood or relatives to control power. The author of this article explains the research material that he wants to discuss by collecting various library sources based on primary and secondary data or applying the concept of qualitative research and a data collection approach based on literature studies. The important information used is the Tafsir Al-Misbah by Quraish Shihab, while the selected information is in the form of various primary data that correlate with the research. Based on the research analysis, several findings were obtained. First, power and leadership come from God and are not privileges based on blood, kinship, or lineage.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of ‘imārat al-masājid (the prosperity and development of mosques) in the Qur’an from the perspective of Abu Yahya Marwan bin Musa through his exegesis Hidāyatul Insān bi Tafsīr al-Qur’an. The focus of the study is directed toward the analysis of key verses, namely Q.S. At-Taubah: 18, Al-Baqarah: 114, and Al-Jinn: 18, which are then elaborated with the views of authoritative exegetes such as Ibn Kathir, Al-Maraghi, and Quraish Shihab. The method applied is thematic interpretation (tafsīr maudhū‘ī) with a descriptive-analytical approach. The findings reveal that the concept of mosque prosperity encompasses spiritual, social, educational, economic, and political dimensions. The mosque is not merely a place of worship but also serves as a center of community, education, social justice, social advocacy, and reconciliation. Marwan bin Musa’s interpretation emphasizes that mosque prosperity is a reflection of true faith, measured through devotion to prayer, zakat, and sincere worship of Allah. The novelty of this research lies in its systematic effort to uncover the thematic dimension of Marwan bin Musa’s exegesis on mosques, which has rarely been examined academically. This study discovers a new aspect in his interpretation that has not been significantly highlighted by other exegetes, namely the emphasis on the mosque as a transformative institution that actively contributes to empowering the Muslim community in both spiritual and social spheres. This finding aligns with contemporary realities that demand the mosque to function as a dynamic, inclusive, and relevant institution for modern Islamic civilization. Therefore, mosque prosperity should be understood as a collective responsibility grounded in monotheism (tawhid) and social ethics for the benefit of the ummah.
