Abstract

Tulisan ini berupaya menganalisis artikulasi pemikiran Islam modernis-kontemporer Amin Abdullah dalam bidang rekonstruksi pendekatan kajian agama (Islam) dan rekonstruksi pola hubungan antaragama. Pokok masalah yang dianalisis diidentifikasi ke dalam beberapa pertanyaan berikut: Pertama, bagaimana artikulasi pemikiran Islam modernis-kontemporer Abdullah. Kedua, bagaimana tipologi pendekatan yang digunakan Abdullah dalam merekonstruksi pendekatan terhadap kajian agama dan pola hubungan antaragama pada masyarakat multikultural dan multiagama. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh berdasarkan pendekatan deskriptif analisis bahwa pemikiran Abdullah dengan menggunakan acuan pendekatan berpikirnya Ian G. Barbour, Edward Scillebeeckx, Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas dan Milton K. Munitz, dapat dikatakan dalam pendekatan kajian agama Abdullah bercorak dialog-integratif, dan dalam rekonstruksi pola hubungan antaragama bercorak pluralisme de jure. Sedangkan kategorisasi tipologi pemikiran Abdullah dalam kajian agama dan pola hubungan antaragama tersebu tergolong modernis-kontemporer.

Abstract

There is a tendency of basic footing in the education and teaching process to always refer to the reference to Western paradigms of educational theories that have been built by the characters, which is something natural, such as the theories of empiricism, nativism, and convergence. However, on the other hand, it becomes a dilemma if the tendency is grounded (crystallized) without being balanced with the motivation for Muslim educators to build educational theories from the Qur'anic paradigm. Hasn't it been recognized and believed that the Qur'an in the Islamic worldview is an absolute reference for solving various life problems, and of course that includes building educational theories? This research is a qualitative-exploratory research with a philosophical approach from documents related to the substance of the study, both primary and secondary, then analyzed by "eidetic" and interpretation methods (hermeneutics). The results of this study indicate that the Qur'an as a source of education has principles that serve as a reference for producing educational theories. These principles are monotheism and rabbaniyah, the principles of monotheism and rabbaniyah (divine spirit) are the main basis for building Qur'an-based education. Because it provides an understanding of the Oneness of God as well as the real manifestation of human essence as khalifah fil ardhi (God's representative on earth).

Abstract

Renaissance Barat dapat terjadi tidak terlepas dari mengadopsi peradaban Islam. Meski demikian, harus diakui justru seiring dengan kemajuan peradaban Islam itu pula, menunjukkan kegelisahan Barat menuju kebangkitan dengan semangat menggali semua peradaban Islam melalui al-Qur’an dan Bahasa Arab sebagai bahasa terdepan (kunci) ilmu pengetahuan kala itu. Sejumlah kitab-kitab para ilmuwan Muslim yang berbahasa Arab diterjemahkan ke bahasa Latin. Hasil terjemahannya diajarkan pada perguruan tinggi Barat. Eropa bangkit dengan pesat hingga zaman milenial ini, sementara dunia Islam justru mengalami kemunduran dan keterbelakangan dalam berbagai bidang kehidupan. Sibuk dilanda persengitan antar mazhab, eksistensi al-Qur’an dan Bahasa Arab dieliminasikan, bahkan kurang dianggap kunci terdepan ilmu pengetahuan.

Abstract

The integration of the Salaf tradition, which adheres firmly to the Qur'an, Sunnah, and the understanding of the best generation of the ummah (as-Salaf as-Shalih), with the demands of modernity is both a challenge and a necessity in the world of contemporary Islamic education. This study aims to analyze strategies that can be implemented by Islamic educational institutions in harmoniously combining these two poles. The research method used is library research with a philosophical and pedagogical analysis approach. Data were collected from primary and secondary sources such as classical books, modern literature, and related scientific journals. The results of the study identified several key strategies. First, a curricular strategy through curriculum reconstruction that combines naqli (religious) and aqli (general & scientific) knowledge in an integrative, rather than secular, manner. Second, a methodological strategy by implementing learning methods that respect the authority of texts but are packaged with a modern pedagogical approach that is critical, innovative, and in accordance with the psychological development of students. Third, a human resource strategy by developing educators (teachers/ustadz) who have a straight understanding of religion while mastering modern educational science and technology. Fourth, a cultural strategy involves creating an Islamic educational environment while still fostering dialogue with contemporary thought and technological advancements. The conclusion of this research is that the integration of Salafi traditions and modernity in Islamic education is not only possible but also essential to foster a generation of moderate Muslims, one with a strong Islamic identity, noble morals, and the ability to actively contribute and compete in the global arena. A holistic and balanced strategy is key to preventing dichotomies, secularism, or fundamentalism in the education system.

Abstract

Qur’anic exegesis has been practiced since the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and has continued to develop across different historical periods, including the era of the Prophet and his Companions, the era of the Tābiʿīn, and the modern period. This study aims to examine the historical development of tafsir across these three major periods. The research employs a library-based method, gathering relevant information and data from various sources such as books, scholarly notes, and research articles. The findings reveal that during the Prophet’s lifetime, Qur’anic interpretation continued to evolve, eventually giving rise to diverse exegetical schools and methods. In the period of the Companions, the Qur’an was interpreted primarily through riwāyah (transmitted reports), and at times through ijtihād when no direct explanation from the Prophet was available. The era of the Tābiʿīn marks further development of tafsir, characterized by the emergence of interpretive traditions centered in Makkah, Madinah, and Iraq. This study contributes to Qur’anic studies by providing a structured historical mapping of tafsir evolution, clarifying the foundational epistemological shifts across periods, and offering a comparative framework that can support future research on the continuity and transformation of exegetical methods from classical to modern times.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the urgency of Hadith research in the digital era, a period that presents new challenges to the validity and transmission of prophetic traditions. Employing a library research approach, the study analyzes developments in Hadith criticism methodology, the dynamics of fabricated or weak Hadith circulating on social media, and the contribution of Hadith scholarship to strengthening religious understanding in modern society. The findings indicate that low Hadith literacy among the public contributes to the increasing use of unverified narrations, highlighting the need for enhanced educational strategies and religious moderation. The study also emphasizes that the modernization of Hadith methodology must uphold classical epistemological principles while integrating digital technology, including the development of AI-based Hadith research databases. This research contributes theoretically to enriching the literature on Hadith studies and proposes directions for multidisciplinary research aimed at improving religious literacy and mitigating the misuse of Hadith. Its limitation lies in the absence of empirical field verification; thus, future studies are recommended to measure the social impact of unauthentic Hadith circulation on the religious practices of Indonesian Muslim communities

Abstract

Qur’anic exegesis is a vital instrument for understanding divine messages in a profound and applicable manner. One distinctive contribution to the landscape of contemporary Indonesian tafsir is Tafsir al-Qur’an al-‘Azim authored by KH. Bahrul Anam. This study aims to explore the historical background of its writing, the methodological approaches employed, and the exegetical characteristics that define Bahrul Anam’s work, particularly in bridging classical Islamic scholarship with the needs of contemporary Muslim society. Using a qualitative library-research approach, this study closely examines the content of the tafsir alongside relevant supporting works, including references from both classical and modern scholars. The findings indicate that Tafsir al-Qur’an al-‘Azim adopts a thematic–contextual approach while remaining firmly grounded in both tafsir bi al-ma’tsur and tafsir bi al-ra’yi. Bahrul Anam presents his interpretations in an accessible and down-to-earth language, making them easily understood by general readers. The work highlights social issues such as justice, humanity, family, education, religious moderation, and nationalism. Consequently, this tafsir serves not only as an interpretation of the sacred text but also as an instrument of moral, social, and national transformation that remains highly relevant amid the evolving dynamics of Indonesian Muslim society.
