Abstract

This research explores the role of leadership in enhancing the quality of students at Bumi Cendekia Islamic Boarding School in Yogyakarta. Leadership in the context of Islamic boarding schools involves nurturing, mentoring, and managing the overall affairs of the institution. The leadership style implemented by the chairman of the foundation of Bumi Cendekia Islamic Boarding School is democratic, allowing active participation of members in decision-making processes. The study employs a qualitative approach using interview, observation, and documentation techniques. Data is analyzed through reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings indicate that the foundation's chairman plays a crucial role in shaping the character of students by integrating religious and general education. The applied independent curriculum focuses on the development of morals, knowledge, and skills. The foundation leader assumes a dual role as a manager and a leader, with responsibilities encompassing mentoring, motivation, performance evaluation, and resource management. Democratic leadership creates an inclusive environment where every member feels valued and engaged in the learning process. This research contributes to understanding the role of Islamic boarding school foundation leaders in optimizing student quality. The conclusion emphasizes that effective leadership plays a crucial role in shaping character and advancing the institution, with a democratic style supporting individual growth and development.

Abstract

Risk of production in straw mushroom cultivation has become a critical concern due to its vulnerability to environmental fluctuations, pathogen contamination, and unstable market conditions. These risks have led to declining yields and quality, particularly for smallholder enterprises in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the risks in straw mushroom production at Oemah Jamur using the House of Risk (HOR) model while also examining the role of digital tools in mitigating priority risks. The research employed a mixed-methods approach by integrating interviews, field observations, and secondary data to identify potential risk events. The HOR model was applied in two stages: first, to map and quantify risk agents using Aggregate Risk Potential (ARP), and second, to prioritize mitigation actions based on their effectiveness-to-difficulty ratio. Data triangulation was used to strengthen the validity of findings, and Pareto analysis was employed to highlight the most influential risks. The process enabled systematic identification of 13 risk events and 16 risk agents, leading to the determination of 10 priority risks. The main results show that fluctuations in temperature, humidity, and lighting were the most critical risks, and the adoption of an automatic climate control system offered the most effective mitigation. Additionally, IoT-based monitoring, standardization of pasteurization, and improved ventilation significantly enhanced environmental stability. These findings imply that combining structured risk analysis with digital solutions can improve the efficiency, sustainability, and competitiveness of straw mushroom production.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of Digital Skills (DS) on Digital Work Readiness (DWR) among youth, emphasizing the mediating role of Digital Self-Efficacy (DSE). It highlights the importance of linking technical competence with psychological empowerment to prepare young jobseekers for a rapidly digitalized labour market. In Yogyakarta, Indonesia, 185 respondents between the ages of 18 and 35 participated in a quantitative survey. PLS-SEM was used to analyze the data and test the suggested correlations. The findings show that whereas DS has no direct effect on DWR, it considerably raises DSE. Rather, DSE completely mediates the association between DS and DWR, implying that to improve employability, digital competencies must be paired with confidence in utilizing technology.

Abstract

The research investigates how Total Quality Management (TQM) influences company performance, with customer satisfaction acting as a mediator and the Just In Time (JIT) concept functioning as a moderator. This study specifically targets micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the food and craft industries in Yogyakarta. With a quantitative methodology, the study uses purposive and non-probability sampling techniques to collect data from 125 participants in DI Yogyakarta. The Smart-PLS application is used to analyze data using structural equation modeling (SEM) methods. The findings showed that total quality management (TQM) significantly improves positive effect both customer satisfaction and business perfomance. However, there is also a strong positive correlation between customer satisfaction and business performance. Other results show that the JIT variable improves business performance, but has a negative and insignificant impact in moderating the effect of TQM that it can actually weaken MSMEs TQM. MSMEs' commitment to maintaining product quality is the main thing that affects customer satisfaction and improves business performance. Thus, strict supervision is needed in the production process, including quality data collection, supplier selection, employee training, production timeliness, as well as regular inspections.

Abstract

This study addresses the challenges and needs of Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia, who encounter issues such as poor living conditions, limited healthcare access, inadequate education, and insufficient legal protection. Wage disparities and job availability in Indonesia drive migration to neighboring countries, but a lack of skills often results in serious problems like job mismatches, human trafficking, and illegal labor. The aim of this community services is to identify the initial needs for developing the Indonesian international migrant community in Malaysia, with synergy between Indonesian universities and international students in Malaysia. The study employs a qualitative approach through interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGD) with migrant workers. Findings indicate that many migrants live in inadequate housing with limited access to clean water and sanitation. They also face significant barriers to accessing healthcare, education for their children, and legal protection. Recommendations include improving housing conditions, enhancing healthcare access, providing formal education for migrant children, ensuring legal protection, and promoting economic empowerment through entrepreneurship and financial management training. Effective development and improved welfare for migrants require collaboration between the government, NGOs, universities, and local communities.
