Abstract

Reading is part of the productive skill in learning English and it is important like other skills which learners have to master all skill. That skill has many issues for the learners especially to the English Foreign Language (EFL) learners because reading is not easy to learn. The purpose of this mini-research is to investigate various reading difficulties are faced by the students in science classrooms and to find out what strategies they use to overcome reading difficulties. A questionnaire and essay were distributed and for collecting data, a survey questionnaire and an essay were done on thirty students from different departments in the Faculty of Science. The results obtained from the survey questionnaire and essay answer the research questions. The findings show that students face problem-related in reading comprehension. These problems are related to the poor habit of reading and lack of interest in reading by using bilingual books in the classroom. So, the students need more interactive learning activities in the class as their strategies to solve their problems in facing reading difficulties.

Abstract

Motivation is very important for students in the learning process at school because motivation is one of the factors that determine learning outcomes. The students have passed the online learning process, which has transitioned to offline learning now. Contradictory learning conditions certainly affect the level of learning motivation which owned by the students, whether it remains or changes. By this research, the researchers aimed to measure the level of learning motivation which owned during following learning activities that the entire learning process becoming an offline process in this transition process in the academic year of 2022/2023. The entire learning process becoming an offline learning. This research was conducted from October to November 2022 at SMKN Pariwisata Mamasa, West Sulawesi. The type of this research is survey research with a quantitative-descriptive design. The sample was obtained by using the saturated sampling technique, in which the number of samples is equal to the total number of people in the population is 64 which consist of 18 men and 46 women. The research instrument used a motivational questionnaire which consist of 22 statements, 11 of were positive and 11 were negative. The results of this research shows that the average level of student learning motivation in the learning process is in the high category. The aspect that has highest percentage is having hopes and dreams for the future. Meanwhile, the aspect that has lowest percentage is having encouragement and needs in learning.

Abstract

AbstrakIndonesia memiliki banyak perkebunan kelapa namun pengembangan produk berbahan dasar kelapa masih kurang optimal. Semua bagian kelapa dapat dimanfaatkan sehingga banyak produk yang dapat dihasilkan. VCO dan Coco Vinegar merupakan contoh produk turunannya sehingga pengembangannya tidak hanya mengoptimalkan manfaat tetapi juga meningkatkan nilai ekonomis. Adapun bentuk hilirisasi dari tanaman kelapa dapat dibuat menjadi produk baru yaitu mayones. Dengan pertimbangan manfaat tersebut, maka dilakukan sosialisasi dengan tujuan untuk memberikan pemahaman kepada guru-guru di UPT SPF SDI Paccerakkang tentang pengolahan kelapa berkelanjutan dari VCO dan Coco Vinegar menjadi Mayones. Program ini terdiri dari pembuatan produk, sosialisasi, dan evaluasi. Hasilnya adalah proses pembuatan produk dilakukan dengan metode sederhana, kemudian dipresentasikan dalam kegiatan sosialisasi. Setelah itu, dilakukan Focus Group Discussion sebagai evaluasi.Kata kunci: Kelapa, VCO, Coco Vinegar, MayonnaiseAbstractIndonesia has many coconut plantations, but the development of coconut-based products is still less than optimal. All parts of coconut can be utilized so that many products can be produced. VCO and Coco Vinegar are examples of derivative products so that their development will not only optimize benefits but also increase economic value. As for the downstream form of coconut plants, these products can be made into new products, namely mayonnaise. With consideration of the benefits, socialization was carried out with the aim of providing understanding to teachers at UPT SPF SDI Paccerakkang about sustainable coconut processing from VCO and Coco Vinegar to Mayonnaise. This program consisted of product manufacturing, socialization, and evaluation. The results are the process of making product is done with a simple method, then it is presented in a socialization activity. After that, a Focus Group Discussion was conducted as an evaluation.Keywords: Coconut, VCO, Coco Vinegar, Mayonnaise

Abstract

The use of cooking oil at the household level is a basic necessity since many foods are processed through frying. Used cooking oil is often disposed of improperly, leading to environmental damage as it is considered waste. This community service activity aims to provide outreach and assistance to households in utilizing waste cooking oil to add value rather than discarding it carelessly or consuming it in an unfit condition. This activity was conducted in Taroada Village, Turikale District, Maros Regency. The goal of this activity is to educate household members by providing guidance on soap making from waste cooking oil. The method used in this study is service learning, in which the material is delivered through hands-on soap-making practice and a question-and-answer session to encourage active participation. The result of this activity is that the community becomes aware of the health and environmental impacts of waste cooking oil and learns how to recycle it into soap.
