Abstract

Social-emotional skills are one aspect of development that must be the main focus in development, because from an early age children are required to be able to live socially. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of music learning for developing social emotional skills. This research method uses descriptive qualitative research with a case study type at the UPI Tasikmalaya Laboratory Kindergarten educational institution. Data collection techniques were carried out using primary and secondary data, primary data was obtained from research results and secondary data was obtained from books and journal articles which were referred to as additional data in data analysis. Data processing and analysis is based on the results of interviews with 2 informants including the class teacher and accompanying teacher, observation and documentation. The research results explain that there is a positive impact on applied music learning, such as: expressing feelings, being patient, working together, being responsible, and managing emotions, so that music learning is very effective in developing children's social emotional skills.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the level of creativity among children aged 5–6 years at TK Joy Kids National Plus Tasikmalaya, based on four main aspects: fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. A quantitative descriptive method was used, involving 20 children as participants. The results showed that most children were at a moderate level of creativity, with notable strengths in generating many ideas (fluency) and coming up with unique ideas (originality). However, the ability to think from different perspectives (flexibility) varied among children, and the skill of developing ideas in more detail (elaboration) was still in progress. Based on these findings, it is recommended that learning strategies be adjusted to each child's needs and that the learning environment be made more stimulating to help develop their creativity more effectively. The implication of this study is the need to develop more flexible, contextual, and child-centered learning strategies to support the equal development and enhancement of all aspects of creativity—particularly flexibility and elaboration—while also acknowledging the limitation in generalizability, as the research was conducted at a single institution

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of ice breaking wire game activities on the concentration of early childhood learning. This study is based on the low level of children's concentration in the learning process which causes them to be easily distracted and have difficulty in completing tasks. The method used is a quasi-experiment with a sample of 8 people in group B at Al-Bayyinah Kindergarten as the control class and 8 people in group B at Al-Barokah Kindergarten as the experimental class. The data collection technique uses an observation sheet that covers three aspects of concentration, namely focus, duration of attention and suitability in working. The analysis used is descriptive statistics to describe data in both numerical and visual forms while inferential statistics to draw conclusions about a population based on data. The results of the study showed that there was a significant increase in children's learning concentration in the experimental class after being given treatment in the form of ice breaking wire game activities. This is evidenced by the N-gain value of the experimental class of 0.88 with a high category, while the N-gain value of the control class was only 0.093. In addition, it can be seen from the Mann Whitney U test the Asymp value. Sig.(2-tailed) 0.002 which is less than 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected which means that there is an influence of the effectiveness of ice breaking wire game activities in developing the learning concentration abilities of early childhood children and there is a difference in the learning concentration abilities of early childhood children from both the experimental and control classes

Abstract

Teachers play a central role in determining the success of education, especially at the early childhood education level. In facing the challenges of the 21st century, which demand digital literacy and increasingly complex professional competencies, prospective early childhood education teachers (PAUD) need to be comprehensively prepared through educational programs that integrate theory and practice. This study aims to describe the competency levels of PGPAUD students at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia during their participation in the Professional Education Strengthening Program (P3K). The research employs a quantitative approach with a descriptive method, and the data were analyzed using frequency tabulation to illustrate the distribution. The sample consists of 191 students selected through proportional random sampling. The research instrument used was a Likert scale questionnaire measuring three key aspects of competence: knowledge, skills, and attitudes. The results showed that 53.40% of students fell into the very high category and 46.60% into the high category, with no respondents in the medium, low, or very low categories. These findings indicate that PGPAUD UPI students possess strong competencies as prospective professional teachers ready to meet the demands of 21st-century education. The theoretical contribution of this study reinforces Mulyasa’s theory of teacher competence, which emphasizes the importance of mastery in knowledge, skills, and attitudes as the main pillars of teacher competence. Practically, the results of this study can serve as an evaluation and continuous improvement tool for the curriculum and implementation of the P3K Program, thereby better preparing PGPAUD students to become professional, adaptive, and innovative teachers

Abstract

This study addresses the scarcity of research on the professionalism of kindergarten teachers in relation to salary and work motivation, despite its substantial impact on the quality of early childhood education in Indonesia. Using a qualitative case study approach, the research involved six kindergarten teachers (n = 6) from Tawang and Cipedes sub-districts, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, direct observation, and document analysis, and analyzed thematically to identify recurring patterns and themes. Findings reveal that low salary remains a major barrier to improving teacher welfare and professionalism, whereas intrinsic work motivation—such as passion for teaching and commitment to children’s development—remains consistently high among participants. School-led initiatives, including professional training and non-financial rewards, positively influence teacher confidence and professional competence, yet do not fully address financial challenges. The study confirms the relevance of Herzberg’s two-factor theory, indicating that both salary (hygiene factor) and motivation (motivator factor) are critical for fostering professionalism in early childhood education. Ethical approval was obtained from relevant authorities, and informed consent was secured from all participants. The results offer theoretical insights into teacher professionalism and practical implications for policymakers and school leaders to design effective welfare policies and professional development programs

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using picture card media in overcoming articulation difficulties of consonant sounds in children aged 5–6 years. Articulation problems, such as inaccurate pronunciation of sounds like /d/, /g/, /p/, /f/, and /r/, can hinder children's language and communication development. The research employed an experimental method using a Single Subject Research (SSR) approach with an A-B-A design, consisting of three phases: baseline-1 (A1), intervention (B), and baseline-2 (A2). The subject of the study was a single child experiencing articulation difficulties with consonant sounds. Data were collected through structured observation using an articulation assessment instrument and analyzed descriptively with visual graph representation. The results showed a significant improvement in the child’s articulation ability after the intervention using picture card media. In the A1 phase, the average articulation percentage was 34.15%, which increased to 78.18% during the intervention phase (B), and remained at 76.33% in the A2 phase. This improvement indicates that picture card media can strengthen children's visual-verbal associations with letter sounds, enhance concentration, and motivate them to pronounce consonants more accurately. This study recommends the use of picture card media as a fun, structured, and effective learning alternative for teachers and parents in supporting early childhood language development, particularly in addressing consonant articulation difficulties
