Abstract

Strengthening literacy, numeracy and character skills is an important effort to improve the quality of human resources in the Digital Age and the Era of Disruption. As a teacher or education personnel, developing students' activeness so that they can apply numeracy skills well is a big responsibility. The numeracy skills in question are number concepts and arithmetic operation skills used for daily life skills. This service activity aims to provide numeracy literacy-based learning process assistance to junior high school teachers in Medan City to improve the ability of teachers to create Numeracy Literacy HOTS questions. This activity is carried out in several stages, namely the team preparation stage, school observation, making modules/materials to be delivered to mentoring activities. In delivering the material, the community service team used various methods, questions and answers, discussions, lectures and assignments.  All of these methods are used as needed. The result of the activity is that teachers can develop HOTS-based questions in groups according to their respective subjects. The group was chosen in order to provide a positive stimulus to teachers who do not know and understand the preparation of HOTS-based questions on Numeracy Literacy to be encouraged to be able to compile independently and apply in preparing evaluation questions to students.

Abstract

The potential of plants as an alternative medicine is a great gift. This potential can be explored through various preliminary tests. One of the preliminary tests is to analyze the content of secondary metabolite compounds using GC-MS. One of the plants known to have potential is Biden Pilosa L. The results of the GC-MS analysis showed that there were 9 compounds identified as having antimicrobial properties. This was discovered after analyzing the compound content and continuing with a literature review. The conclusion obtained was that there were 9 compounds in the ethanol extract of Biden Pilosa L leaves that functioned as antimicrobials.

Abstract

This research is a type of development research. The development method applied follows the define, design, and development Model. The aim of this study is to produce a valid general biology learning equipment based on case method and project based learning. In this research, the completed general biology learning equipment design was validated by content experts and language experts. Based on the validation results from content experts, the tool achieved a validation percentage of 86.65%, categorized as highly valid. The language experts validated the equipment with a percentage of 81.25%, also categorized as highly valid. Therefore, it can be concluded that the developed general biology learning equipment is suitable for testing by instructors of general biology courses.

Abstract

The study aims to validate the textbook of Human Anatomy and Physiology. The validation conducted leads to the analysis of the textbook on scientific literacy, namely to determine the scope of scientific literacy in the textbook. This study is a descriptive study that aims to explain the validation results. This module was validated by three validators. There are four components that validated, namely content validity consisting of module components and the suitability of module content, construct validity, language validity, and suitability with learning that uses conceptual changes. The results of the validation of human anatomy and physiology materials for semester VI Biology students at Medan State University found that the standards for human anatomy and physiology teaching materials based on scientific literacy have met the Very Good category with a percentage score and an average number of feasibility: Content feasibility is 88.67, presentation feasibility 93%, feasibility of scientific literacy components 93%. The results of the study concluded three textbooks used in university emphasize more on the presentation of facts, concepts, principles, laws, theories and models and emphasize that students can remember information through questions.
