Abstract

The Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu), mandated by the law as the leading actor in overseeing the electoral process, holds the potential to enhance the quality of elections, which correlates with the quality of democracy through a Participatory Oversight Program. Active participation of the community, a crucial aspect in elections, needs improvement to ensure that the quality of general elections elevates, both in procedural and substantive aspects. The trust of the public in the electoral process and its outcomes is a growing concern, as community participation has so far been limited to statistical figures. Utilizing qualitative research methods and analytical descriptive techniques In this article, we make a case for the potential of participatory oversight initiated by Bawaslu to enhance the community's role in ensuring fair and transparent elections. By using participatory approaches, public education, and technology, Bawaslu can engage the public and increase their awareness in ensuring integrity-driven elections, which can help boost the quality of our democracy

Abstract

Pattern by forming regional governments at the first level (provinces) and the second level (Districts/Cities). This is solely to achieve the optimization of national goals and development. However, the division of tasks and relationships between central and regional government authorities continues to experience dynamics. This issue needs to be deeply examined, specifically related to how to obtain and at what level of legitimacy strength, before determining how the working relationship and authority between the Central Government and the regions should be. This research employs a qualitative type, utilizing focused literature studies by taking relevant literature and legal provisions related to the position of regional leaders' authority in decentralization and provincial elections. The analysis used in this study applies the theory of the regional household system proposed by K. Tresna and Bagir Manan, the theory of the relationship model between the Central Government and regions by Clarke and Stewart, as well as the theory of people's sovereignty by John Locke, further emphasized by JJ Rosseau's social contract theory. The findings of this research assume that the methods and strengths of legitimacy regarding the people's sovereignty held by both the Central and regional governments are the same; the difference lies only in the scale of the election/governance areas. Local governments must have extensive autonomy and independence in conducting their regional governance affairs.

Abstract

This study aims to map trends and identify research gaps on local government social media in Indonesia in the period 2014–2024. The method used is bibliometric analysis with data obtained from the GARUDA database. The analysis was carried out using Microsoft Excel and VOSviewer to examine the frequency, relevance, and density of themes based on 87 selected articles. The results of the study show that studies on local government social media have increased significantly since 2020, dominated by qualitative approaches and focused on the Instagram platform. There are gaps in terms of diversification of approaches, new platforms, and regional objects studied. These findings provide a basis for developing further research that is more contextual and diverse.
