Abstract

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our government has been forced to implement strict quarantine measures. As a result, social interaction, particularly among informal street vendors, has been restricted. The researchers undertook this study to learn more about the survival methods used by informal street vendors of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. The current study used Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis as a qualitative research design. The informants in this study were 15 informal street vendors who were chosen through a random sampling technique. The data was gathered using an interview schedule. Two major findings were extracted from this study: (1) the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are primarily negative to informal street vending businesses. In contrast, informal street vendors suffered from a decline in sales, inconvenience in selling, increased operating expenses, and disruption in operations. (2) Due to the resilience of the informants, they are able to cope-up by employing survival strategies such as adaptation of business strategies, policy adherence, and optimism. The results of the study will provide insights to the local government on how to possibly intervene in the affairs of the informal street vendors in order to contribute to the city's local development as they are part of the economy.

Abstract

Sustainability refers to both the planet’s health and humanity’s future well-being, encompassing actions humans take to prevent the depletion of natural resources. Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) plays a vital role in course curricula by helping students develop critical thinking, decision-making, socio-emotional, and behavioral skills. This study examined the awareness and behavior of BS Management Accounting (BSMA) students regarding the three pillars of sustainability as well as the relationship between sustainability education and their awareness and behavior. Using the Knowledge-Attitudes-Practices (KAP) and Knowledge-Attitude-Behavior (KAB) frameworks, this quantitative descriptive research collected data from 349 out of 399 BSMA students (87.47% participation rate) enrolled during SY 2023–2024 at the University of Saint Louis, Northern Philippines. The results revealed that students were generally aware of sustainability and exhibited positive attitudes toward sustainable practices. Enrollment in the SASA 1013 course significantly increased sustainability awareness, but neither year level nor course enrollment had a significant impact on actual sustainability behavior. This study offers insights into the relationship between students’ sustainability awareness and their behavior across the three sustainability pillars. The novelty of this research lies in its focus on BSMA students and the specific role of the SASA 1013 course in fostering sustainability awareness. The study concludes with recommendations for curriculum development and policy initiatives to further promote students’ long-term sustainability awareness and behavior.

Abstract

This study intends to evaluate the perceived benefits and challenges that these technologies offer in the context of digitalization, to one of the most suitable professions for the particular procedure; the audit profession.  A qualitative study was conducted to gain a better grasp of the implications of digitalization on audit tools in the audit profession. This is accomplished by conducting ten (10) semi-structured interviews with professional auditors, emphasizing interpretation. It has been found that this study backs up some of the conclusions of prior research on the issue of digital auditing. Conclusively, the empirical findings of this study support the assumption that auditors believe digitalization will become even more popular in the future and that it will not result in job losses, as prior studies have suggested.

Abstract

This study assessed the influenced of digital marketing strategies on the financial performance of start-ups in Tuguegarao City, addressing a gap in understanding their influence on profitability. Using a descriptive-quantitative research design, data were collected from 35 start-ups and analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics, specifically Pearson-R for correlation analysis. Findings revealed no significant relationship between digital marketing strategies, such as affiliate marketing, social media marketing, and financial metrics like gross and net profit margins. The conclusion emphasizes that while digital marketing can improve financial outcomes, start-ups should adopt a more tailored approach. The study proposes the seminar "D.I.G.I.T.A.L." to provide these businesses with a deeper understanding of digital marketing strategies for improved performance.

Abstract

This study determined the relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities and the financial performance of automotive companies in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, using data from 2020-2022. Descriptive statistics, financial metrics analysis, ANOVA, and Chi-Square Pearson tests were employed. Results showed that while environmental and ethical CSR initiatives were emphasized, economic community development was less prioritized. No significant differences were found in CSR activities based on firm profiles, and there was no significant link between CSR activities and financial performance. The study recommends a more balanced CSR approach, with greater emphasis on local economic development and partnerships with community and educational institutions. Due to limitations in sample size and data variety, future research should involve a broader participant base.
