Abstract

Seiring dengan kemajuan jaman maka persaingan antara toko/kios yang berada di pasar tradisional dengan toko modern dengan segala kehebatan fasilitasnya, memang tidakbisa dihindari. Pedagang pasar tradisional rata-rata tidak mencapai taraf tingkat pendidikan tinggi, sehingga ketika para pedagang pasar ditanyai mengenai strategi apa yang digunakan mereka hanya menjawab tidak menggunakan strategi khusus, namun selalu mengutamakan “pelayanan” yakni dengan sikap ramah kepada konsumen, dan memberikan “rasa kepercayaan” penuh serta faktor “harga yang menarik” para konsumen. Objek pada penelitian ini adalah Toko Suka Hati di pasar tradisional Mester, Jatinegara, Jakarta Timur dengan dagangan utama aneka jenis kue kering. Responden penelitian ini adalah pemilik dan para karyawan Toko Suka Hati.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelayanan di Toko Suka Hati sangat baik dan berani bersaing dengan toko-toko modern yang merebak di area sekitar, dengan mempertahankan kualitas produk dagangan sesuai dengan yang diinginkan konsumen dan harganya sesuai dengan kemampuan daya beli masyarakat sekitar.

Abstract

Mentoring activities aim to increase public awareness about social issues and develop students' abilities in creating creative Public Relations campaigns, while forming children's character through the Ceria Class and strengthening solidarity between Communication Science students at UBSI. The Bina Sarana Informatika University (UBSI) "Education–Social and Nonprofit Campaign" campaign method involves holding two main activities, namely Cheerful Classes and Cheap Bazaar, with a mentoring approach such as Awareness Building, Capacity Building, and Character Building. The committee team, with divided roles, works together in planning, implementing and evaluating these activities to achieve campaign goals and strengthen solidarity between Communication Science students at UBSI. The result of this assistance is that from the beginning of preparation to the final evaluation, the campaign committee team "Community Empowerment through Cheap Bazaars and Cheerful Classes in Education and Social Sectors" has shown strong commitment and extraordinary hard work. A solid leadership structure, successful event execution, careful monitoring and thorough evaluation have been the foundation for the success of this campaign. Through solid teamwork, this campaign succeeded in empowering the community, building solidarity, and providing positive contributions for all parties involved. Thus, this campaign not only achieved its stated objectives, but also provided valuable learning for future activities.

Abstract

This program aims to improve basic English vocabulary and simple communication skills for PKK mothers at RPTRA Pinang Pola, South Jakarta. Given the important role of PKK mothers in families and communities, English language skills are an urgent need, especially in the current era of globalization. The method used is community-based mentoring which is carried out for two months (October-November 2024), with a direct practice approach and interactive discussions. Mentoring is carried out intensively through lectures, discussions, and conversation simulations in small groups, which allows participants to learn in an atmosphere that is supportive and relevant to everyday needs. The results of the program showed a significant increase in basic English vocabulary mastery. The post-test showed an increase in scores of up to 30-40% compared to the pre-test. In addition, participants experienced increased confidence in using English for everyday conversation, with 75% of participants being able to construct simple sentences independently. Feedback from participants also showed that the community-based mentoring method was more effective and comfortable than the formal training method. This program successfully met its main objectives and provided positive impacts that can support the sustainable development of participants' English language skills.

Abstract

Literacy is the ability to read, write, and understand information in various contexts. Literacy can also be interpreted as the skill of processing information and knowledge for life skills. Literacy is a skill that needs to be trained and not a talent. Literacy has a very broad scope and is needed in everyday life. What exactly is literacy? Literacy is a person's ability to read, write, and understand information in various contexts. Abstract

Writing is a fundamental skill that is crucial in both academic and everyday life. One strategic writing skill is writing persuasive paragraphs. Persuasive paragraphs require not only the ability to construct well-formed sentences, but also the ability to construct logical, convincing, and relevant arguments. Through persuasive paragraphs, one can convey ideas more effectively, while simultaneously practicing critical thinking skills in developing reasons and supporting evidence. However, many students still struggle to compose good persuasive paragraphs. These challenges typically arise from a lack of writing practice, limited insight into argumentation techniques, and a limited understanding of the logical structure of conveying ideas. As a result, many pieces of writing are purely descriptive without incorporating elements of critical analysis or strong persuasive power. In this fast-paced and competitive digital era, persuasive writing skills are becoming increasingly important. This ability is not only useful in academic contexts, such as writing.

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve the capacity of women administrators of RT 003/002 BSD through training in information literacy, simple MSME management, and collaborative communication skills in the digital era. This activity was motivated by the need to strengthen the role of community organizations in adapting to digital transformation, particularly in accessing information, managing small businesses, and improving organizational communication. Preliminary observations indicated that participants had limited knowledge in digital information management, simple financial administration, and effective communication practices. The implementation method consisted of training sessions, interactive discussions, practical exercises, and mentoring activities. The program involved 15–20 participants and was conducted through several stages, including preliminary observation, preparation of training materials, program implementation, and evaluation. The training focused on improving participants’ understanding of digital information literacy, basic financial recording for small businesses, simple digital marketing strategies, and effective communication within community organizations. The results showed an improvement in participants’ knowledge and practical skills in utilizing digital media, managing small business finances, and strengthening communication among community members. Participants also demonstrated increased awareness in using digital platforms productively. This program is expected to strengthen women's roles as agents of community empowerment and support sustainable social and economic development at the neighborhood level.
