Abstract

This article examines sentence competence in 5-year-old children, emphasizing the use of declarative, imperative, and interrogative sentences. The research employs a psycholinguistic approach to deepen the understanding of how sentence formation occurs in children. A qualitative method was used, with data collected through observation and interviews with the subjects. The research subjects were two 5-year-old children, Zain Alno Aldera and Hasbi Syaidan Pratama, both native speakers of Indonesian. The collected data were then classified and analyzed based on sentence types, such as declarative, imperative, and interrogative sentences. The results show that both children are capable of producing and mastering various kinds of sentences. Zain demonstrated higher proficiency in using declarative, interrogative, and imperative sentences compared to Hasbi.Keywords: children; sentence competence; 5 years oldABSTRAKArtikel ini akan menjelaskan penguasaan kalimat pada anak usia 5 tahun dengan menekankan pada penggunaan kalimat deklaratif, imperatif, dan interogatif. Penelitian ini menerapkan pendekatan psikolinguistik guna memperdalam pemahaman tentang bagaimana proses pembentukan kalimat terjadi pada anak. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data melalui observasi dan wawancara dengan subjek penelitian. Subjek penelitian adalah dua anak berusia 5 tahun, Zain Alno Aldera dan Hasbi Syaidan Pratama, yang keduanya merupakan penutur asli bahasa Indonesia. Data yang  terkumpul kemudian diklasifikasikan dan dianalisis berdasarkan jenis kalimatnya, seperti kalimat deklaratif, imperatif dan interogatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kedua anak dapat memproduksi dan menguasai berbagai jenis kalimat. Zain menunjukkan keterampilan yang lebih tinggi dalam penggunaan kalimat deklaratif, interogatif, dan imperatif dibandingkan Hasbi.Keywords: anak; penguasaan kalimat; usia 5 tahun

Abstract

The island of Java has many customs and cultures, especially the Joglo traditional house which in some areas have different names and functions. The preservation of cultural heritage is carried out through written documentation using a lexicon to describe the parts of the Joglo traditional house which are important symbols, especially in the lexicon of the Surakarta Joglo traditional house. This research is qualitative and uses a descriptive research type method. The use of observation methods and interview methods are used in this research to collect data. The use of data sources in this study is through secondary and primary type data. The use of data provision techniques through recording and analysis shows that there is a cultural meaning of the elements of the building structure of the Surakarta Joglo traditional house as shown by the data from the object of research which presents both meaning and definition in each structure of the Surakarta Joglo traditional house. The resulting data is categorized into monomorphemic and polymorphemic structures with findings namely roof structure, middle structure, lower structure, and house structure (room).
