Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to assess the influence of stress on the performance of state university lecturers in the Southeast, Nigeria. Research Methodology: To achieve this, a correlational survey design method was employed. The study encompassed all six state universities in southeastern Nigeria, focusing exclusively on academic staff. This research involved all state university lecturers on full-time appointments, ranging from professorial cadres to graduate assistants. Data were obtained from personnel offices of the six state universities under review. The social sciences statistical package was used to analyze the data and draw conclusions. Results: The study revealed a significant positive impact of work-life balance on career development, as well as a marked positive impact of mental health management on the academic productivity of state university lecturers in southeast Nigeria. Limitations: The study focused solely on the impact of stress among lecturers of state universities in southeast Nigeria and was limited to the six state universities approved by the National Universities Commission as of the 2023/2024 academic session. Contribution: This study contributes to existing knowledge by introducing new indicators, such as work-life balance and mental health management, to the theme of stress management. It also adds to the empirical and theoretical evidence that could aid future scholars in exploring stress management further. Funding: This research was funded by the authors, and no external funding was received from any institution or corporate entity during this study.

Abstract

Purpose: Evidence shows that Numerous sustainability measures have been put in place to mitigate the huge impact of uncontrollable solid waste disposal. This study was conducted to investigate the impact of waste management on the performance of food and beverage firms. Research Methodology: The study surveyed nine (9) food and beverage firms, and data were collected with the use of questionnaire from a sample population of one hundred and fifty-one (151) respondents, through a simple random technique. The multiple regression analysis contained in the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) IBM version 23 was used to analyze the data obtained from the field of study. Results: The findings from this study revealed a positive significant impact of recycling on resource conservation, while the second finding showed a negative impact of waste incineration on employee health and safety. Limitations: Waste includes solid, liquid, and gas components. However, prior studies have focused on other forms of waste and industrial goods manufacturing firms, specifically solid waste, as the interest area covered only food and beverage manufacturing firms. Contribution: This study addresses one of the major issues related to global warming that occurs as a result of waste dumping and excessive burning. This study has helped curb these challenges by recycling waste and conserving untapped resources for sustainable performance and the healthy coexistence of humans

Abstract

Purpose: The objective was to assess the impact of entrepreneurship education on human capital development. Research Methodology: This study employed a descriptive survey methodology, focusing specifically on students in their 300-level business education and business administration programs. The sample was drawn from selected Universities in Anambra and Imo states, Nigeria. To analyze data effectively, the study utilized a linear regression model, which allowed us to test the hypotheses we had formulated for this research rigorously. Results: This study uncovered compelling evidence that entrepreneurship education plays a crucial role in enhancing human capital development. Specifically, it fosters critical skills, innovative thinking, and practical knowledge. Limitations: This study was conducted with a specific focus on a sample of 440 undergraduate students, carefully selected from various universities located in two southeastern states of Nigeria. This deliberate choice of participants allows us to gain insights that reflect the unique educational context of the region. Contribution: This study has significantly enhanced our understanding of the challenges faced by undergraduates regarding white-collar job opportunities in the country. It has highlighted the reality that many of these positions may be increasingly out of reach due to various economic and competitive factors.

Abstract

Purpose: This study was conducted to address critical issues that affect the sustainability of the environment and to recommend eco-friendly policies for driving sustainable economic growth and development. Research Methodology: This study employed a qualitative approach by reviewing the extant literature to assess key concepts and theories, thereby providing comprehensive recommendations for individuals, households, corporate organizations, and governments. Results: The study observed that the implementation of environmental sustainability measures in Nigeria and other developing nations may be delayed due to a lack of readiness, but it is crucial to overcome this. Limitations: This study used a qualitative approach. However, we observed that Nigeria significantly lags in embracing emerging technology, and this study identified areas for improvement and emphasized guidelines to steer purchasing decisions toward sustainable development. Contribution:  This study contributes to knowledge by adding more perspectives to the body of literature and also makes mankind understand that eco-friendly products are indispensable in shaping a sustainable future, promoting health, supporting the circular economy, and contributing significantly to cultivating a more sustainable and environmentally conscious society. Funding: The researchers did not receive any funding from any agencies or institutions; rather, this study was funded specifically through the personal purpose of the researchers.

Abstract

In the era of human resource digitalization, e-HRM has become an important tool in supporting team member engagement, including in the informal and application-based sectors such as online transportation. Perceived organizational support is crucial in building psychological bonds between the company and the driver. At the same time, emotional intelligence is believed to help drivers manage work pressure and increase emotional and cognitive engagement. This study aims to analyze the effect of the electronic human resource management (e-HRM) model, perceived organizational support, and emotional intelligence on employee engagement in online transportation drivers in Indonesia. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method on a number of online transportation drivers from various platforms in Indonesia. Data analysis was carried out using the regression test model, hypothesis test, correlation test, and coefficient of determination to test the relationship between variables. The results of the study show that the three independent variables, namely e-HRM, perceived organizational support, and emotional intelligence have a significant positive effect on employee engagement. These findings provide practical implications for online transportation service providers in designing more inclusive and technology-based human resource management strategies to increase driver engagement and loyalty.
