Abstract

The implementation of CSR during the COVID-19 pandemic was constrained due to an uncertain and unprecedented situation, which had an impact on the implementation of CSR program. The purpose of this study is to analyze the CSR program in the health sector during the COVID-19 pandemic carried out by one of the State-Owned Enterprises in Indonesia, namely PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI), which has been known as one of the companies that has a significant impact to Papua and Indonesia as well. PTFI continues to carry out CSR programs in the health sector as in previous years, as well as providing assistance for the prevention of COVID-19. However, although CSR programs in the health sector are still being carried out, few community empowerment programs are provided, and PTFI has not carried out community empowerment in dealing with health crisis. The implementation of PTFI's CSR program in the health sector during the COVID-19 pandemic faced many challenges. The challenges are mostly technical in nature due to social restrictions and health protocols that must be carried out, as well as matters related to infrastructure to facilitate working remotely.

Abstract

Background: PT. PHE ONWJ has conducted various community development programs but has never evaluated the impact of these programs using the Social Return on Investment (SROI) framework. This study aims to analyze the impact of one such program, the Street Children Empowerment Program, using SROI in the Tanjung Priok District, DKI Jakarta. Previous research highlights the importance of measuring social value creation to ensure sustainable community development. Methods: This research employs a mixed-method approach, combining both quantitative and qualitative methods. Data were collected through interviews and questionnaires with 46 respondents. The outcomes were analyzed using the sustainability compass approach, focusing on four aspects: Nature, Economy, Society, and Wellbeing.  Findings: The SROI ratio was found to be positive at 1:7.94, with the economic aspect contributing the largest benefits. The most significant impact occurred in 2013, and the stakeholders who benefited the most were the Kumala Foundation. Conclusion: The study demonstrates a positive return on investment for the Street Children Empowerment Program, with a notable impact in economic outcomes. The Kumala Foundation emerged as the most significant stakeholder benefiting from the program.  Novelty/Originality of this article: This study is the first to apply the SROI framework in evaluating PT. PHE ONWJ's community development program, offering valuable insights into measuring social value and demonstrating the effectiveness of empowerment initiatives for street children.

Abstract

The agricultural industry is critical to human life, yet it is not comparable to small farmer’s income in Indonesia. The number of farmer households is decreasing, and the average age of farmers is increasing. The agricultural industry is no longer appealing to the younger generation due to a variety of issues experienced by Indonesian farmers. The majority of Indonesian farmers are small-scale, with little land and production. Farmers also face obstacles such as not having sufficient skills in agricultural business which results in low productivity and no added value to their production. This condition also causes them to have to deal with volatile prices from middlemen which are often not profitable for farmers. The Collective Marketing initiative was created to help agricultural enterprises become more lucrative by increasing the size of farmers' economies of scale, allowing them to enter a secure market with enough bargaining power. This study examines the economic and social impacts of Collective Marketing initiatives in Kopwan Srikandi, as well as in Koperasi Tani Kopi Prima Jaya and KTH Cibulao Hijau. This study also discusses the impact of the Collective Marketing initiative on sustainable development.
