Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to recognize ethics in the perspective of Islamic philosophy. This research uses qualitative techniques based on a literature search. The research concludes that the formulation of ethics in Islam was done by various thinkers from various branches of knowledge, including theologians, mystics, and philosophers. The contributions of these multiple disciplines show how rich and complex the tradition of ethics in Islam is, with each branch of thought offering a unique perspective on developing a framework in Islamic ethics. The shortcoming of this study is that it discusses ethics in the perspective of Islamic philosophy in outline. In future research, this study suggests going deeper into the literature of Islamic ethics specifically on the thought of Muslim philosophers so that future studies of Islamic philosophy are not limited to topics such as the metaphysics of divinity, the creation of nature, and logic. Furthermore, by giving more attention to the study of ethics in Islam, the study of Islamic philosophy has the potential to open a space for dialogue with contemporary moral issues.

Abstract

Islam pays great attention to epistemology by trying to combine knowledge that comes from revelation with knowledge obtained through human reason. Divine knowledge, given through revelation in the Koran and Hadith, is harmonized with knowledge obtained through human reason. Muslim philosophers and scholars have attempted to unite these two sources of knowledge to create a complete understanding. This research uses a qualitative approach using library research. The aim of this article is to explore and analyze aspects of epistemology in Islamic philosophy and their implications for the development of philosophical thought in the Islamic world. The results of this research show that bayani focuses on textual understanding, irfani on intuitive and mystical knowledge, while burhani emphasizes a rational and logical approach. These three aspects together create a comprehensive epistemological framework in the Islamic intellectual tradition, offering a holistic and integrative view of knowledge

Abstract

This research explores Muhammad Abduh's thoughts on Islamic education reform and its implications in the contemporary era. This research uses qualitative techniques based on library research. This study concludes that Abduh's renewal of thought in the field of education includes several things. First, the rejection of Taklid and various schools of thought that limit freedom of thought. Second, criticism of tendentious books should be corrected to be in harmony with rational and historical thinking. Third, renewal efforts at al-Azhar as the main center of Muslims, with the belief that if this institution is good then society will also be good, and vice versa. Fourth, the revitalization of old works to unearth the intellectual heritage of Islam in history, while following the correct views that are relevant to present-day conditions. The implications of Muhammad Abduh's thoughts on Islamic education in Indonesia in the contemporary era are very significant. The educational reforms he initiated can be a foundation for facing the challenges of an Islamic education system that is still trapped in traditional methods and less responsive to technological developments. His thoughts on the integration of religious knowledge and modern science can help Islamic education institutions in Indonesia create a curriculum that is holistic, innovative, and relevant to the needs of the global community.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Muhammad Abduh's thoughts on Islamic educational reform and describe their relevance to the dynamics of contemporary Islamic education in Indonesia. Using a literature review method with descriptive-critical analysis of Abduh's primary works and secondary literature, this study identified four main ideas of reform: Abduh's rejection of blind imitation and his encouragement to develop a culture of critical thinking; criticism of tendentious books that paved the way for strengthening critical literacy and developing more objective teaching materials; reform of educational institutions that emphasized the integration of religious and modern sciences; and revitalization of the Islamic intellectual heritage (turats) through a contextual and interdisciplinary approach to reading. These findings show that Abduh's thinking can provide philosophical and practical direction for the development of madrasah and pesantren curricula, the improvement of teacher competence, and the modernization of learning methods that are more dialogical, rational, and adaptive to the challenges of the 21st century. Thus, this study contributes to explaining how Abduh's reformist ideas can be implemented to strengthen the quality and relevance of Islamic education in Indonesia.
