Abstract

This research aims to analyze the relationship between customer financial literacy and understanding of the financing system implemented at Sharia Pegadaian in Indonesia. Financial literacy, which includes knowledge, skills and attitudes towards financial management, plays an important role in supporting wise financial decision making, especially in the context of Islamic financial services. This study uses library research. The research results show that customers' financial literacy levels still vary, with several main obstacles such as a lack of understanding of sharia contracts and sharia-based financing mechanisms. Statistical analysis shows a significant positive relationship between financial literacy and understanding of the sharia financing system. These findings emphasize the importance of structured educational efforts to increase financial literacy, especially among people who have not been optimally served by formal financial institutions.

Abstract

This study explores the formulation of sustainable household financial management through the integration of Green House practices and ḥalāl budget allocation, grounded in Ibn Khaldūn’s social change theory. Employing a qualitative library research method supported by secondary data from national statistics and field observations in Indonesian villages, the study finds that conventional household consumption patterns—driven by overconsumption and digital spending habits—have contributed to both environmental degradation and financial instability. The proposed model promotes financial planning that balances consumption, saving, investment, and charitable giving (zakāh, infāq, ṣadaqah), while integrating eco-conscious practices such as waste banks, Sustainable Food House Areas (KRPL), and Climate Resilient Integrated Service Posts (Postaklim). This research contributes to global Islamic finance and sustainability literature by introducing a maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah-aligned household finance framework that operationalizes ethical budgeting and environmental stewardship. It offers a novel interdisciplinary perspective by combining green economy principles with Islamic economic ethics to promote long-term household financial resilience. The model may serve as a benchmark for international studies aiming to develop culturally contextualized frameworks for sustainable finance at the microeconomic level. Future research could apply this model across diverse socio-economic and cultural settings or test its impact quantitatively on household welfare and environmental outcomes.

The data is analyzed using the level of business competition effectiveness and critical analysis related to the contestation of religion, market and state by requiring halal certification for all entrepreneurs. The results of this study, firstly, the obligation of halal certification is present as a form of security and consumer protection from various forms of products that cannot be responsibility. Second, the level of effectiveness of halal certification for business competition of business owners depends on the market segmentation. If the target market is the national and international market, halal certification was effective in increasing market competitiveness. However, the local segmentation of halal certification has not been efficient in the process, thus denying its effectiveness. Third; halal which became the study of religion turned into a study of the market and the state, so that market contestation became dominant and led to repression by the state. Thus, the positioning of halal certification is no longer a religious study, but has turned into a market and state study.
