Abstract

This study was conducted to determine and analyze the livelihood strategies of tomato farmers in Lowian Village, Maesaan District, South Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi Province. The research was conducted from November 2022 to February 2023. The research location is in Lowian Village, Maesaan District, South Minahasa Regency. This research method used primary data and secondary data. Primary data was obtained by conducting direct interviews with tomato farmers in Lowian Village, Maesaan District. Secondary data were obtained from relevant agencies or institutions involved in the research. The selection of research samples is purposively (puporsive sampling) where the sample is tomato farmers who have their own land, the main source of farmer income is tomato farming and at least 5 years of growing tomatoes in Lowian Village, Maesaan District, South Minahasa Regency. The population of tomato farmers in Lowian Village amounted to 10 people and the sample was 3 farmers who were willing to be interviewed further. Analyzing livelihood strategies using descriptive qualitative analysis. The results showed that the livelihood strategy used by tomato farmers in Lowian Village, Maesaan Subdistrict in the accumulation strategy, respondent farmers applied the accumulation strategy to obtain agricultural land from initially only having narrow land by applying the accumulation strategy farmers can buy land and obtain large land. Consolidation strategy, respondent farmers apply a consolidation strategy by buying land close to the house and land with one another close together so as to form a large expanse that can facilitate farmers in cultivating farming. Intesification strategies are carried out by respondent farmers by planting several types of plants, carrying out maintenance and providing fertilizers.

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the income of red chili farming in Kamanga Dua Village, Tompaso District, Minahasa Regency. The research was conducted in August 2023. This research uses 2 types of data, namely primary and secondary data. Primary data were obtained from direct interviews using a list of questions as a tool in data collection. Secondary data were obtained from literature related to the research. Sampling in this study used purposive sampling technique.  The number of research samples was 5 farmers as respondents. The results of the study were analyzed using farm analysis, namely cost analysis, revenue, income and continued with the Revenue Cost Ratio. The results of this study indicate that the average income obtained in red chili farming in Kamanga Dua Village, Tompaso District, Minahasa Regency is IDR 44,039,222 per one growing season obtained from the average receipt of IDR 65,798,000 and the average total cost of IDR 21,758,778. The income obtained from red chili farming in one month amounted to Rp14,679,741 which was obtained from the income divided by three months of harvest. The R/C Ratio analysis shows that red chili farming in Kamanga Dua Village, Tompaso District, Minahasa Regency is feasible. This is seen from the ratio of total income to total costs which is> 1, namely 3.02.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and describe the use of yard land in terms of aspects of living dispensaries, beauty, living kitchens, social and economic in Kleak Village. The study will be conducted from June to July 2023. The determination of the sample in this study was by purposive method. The data used are primary data and secondary data. Primary data were collected through observation and interviews using questionnaires to families who owned yard land in their homes. The total number of respondents was 7 people. Secondary data was obtained from the Malalayang sub-district office related to the demographics of the Kleak sub-district area. Secondary data is also obtained from the internet through google scholar in the form of publications, journal articles and theses related to the topic of Yard Land Use in Kleak Village, Malalayang District, Manado City. The results showed that the use of the yard as a living dispensary to reduce the consumption of chemical drugs by using spices planted in the yard while for ornamental plants as decoration to add beauty to the yard of the house (not traded plants) just to fill free time and hobbies. Planting plants as a living kitchen to increase the need for kitchen spices for cooking purposes and reduce the cost of spending on kitchen materials, by planting plants in the yard of the house is used as part of social interaction in the surrounding environment and yard land can also produce plants that have economic value. *eprm*
