Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship between online learning interest and students' cognitive learning outcomes when studying biology subjects online at SMPS Muhammadiya 1 Medan. The research was carried out on SMPS Muhammadiya 1 Medan, based on the observations of SMPS Muhammadiya 1 Medan, the interest in online learning is still relatively low, and the learning outcomes are relatively low, so it is necessary to conduct online learning. This study belongs to the type of quantitative research. The data analysis used in this study is a product-moment correlation data analysis to understand whether there is a positive correlation between online learning interest and students' cognitive learning outcomes during online study of biology subject at SMPS Muhammadiya 1 Medan. Keywords: student learning outcomes, online learning, learning interest.

Abstract

Odonata is one of the orders of insects that has an important role as an indicator of the quality of aquatic ecosystems as well as a component in the food chain. The diversity of Odonata species in urban areas, including campus environments, is often not optimally documented, even though this information is crucial as a basis for environmental management and conservation of local species. Campus II of the State Islamic University of North Sumatra, which has a small aquatic ecosystem, such as ponds and riparian vegetation, is a potential habitat for the existence of the Odonata order. However, until now there has been no scientific study documenting the species in the area. Therefore, this study was conducted with the aim of identifying Odonata species found in the Campus II environment of the State Islamic University of North Sumatra. This research is an exploratory research with data collection techniques using direct sampling methods in the field. Specimen collection was carried out using insect nets, visually documented through digital cameras, and identified using taxonomic determination keys as the main reference. Stationery is used for recording data during field observation. The data from the research were analyzed qualitatively using the Miles and Huberman model analysis technique which involved four systematic steps, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study showed that in the Campus II area of the State Islamic University of North Sumatra, two species of Odonata were found, namely Diplacodes trivialis from the suborder Anisoptera and Agriocnemis pygmaea from the suborder Zygoptera. These two species show adaptation to artificial aquatic habitats in the campus environment. This study concluded that even though the area is semiurban, there is still a diversity of Odonata species that needs attention. The implications of this study are expected to be an initial reference for the development of local insect biodiversity studies as well as the basis for the formulation of insect-friendly habitat management policies in university areas.

Abstract

Background: Textbook analysis is very important to assess the quality and suitability of the book. A teacher needs to analyze textbooks so that students can quickly understand the material being taught and read. This study aims to analyze the aspects of scientific literacy presented in the tenth-grade Biology textbooks used at SMAN 1 Kutacane, specifically in the topic of Biodiversity, as contained in two instructional materials: first book, Biology for Public High School/Islamic High School Grade 10 (Merdeka Curriculum, Erlangga publisher), and second book, Biology for Public High School/Islamic High School Grade 10 (Grafindo publisher). Methodology: The research used a descriptive qualitative content analysis method, measuring and comparing the percentage scores of four dimensions of science literacy: Scientific thinking; science as an investigative process; science as a product of knowledge; and the interaction between science-technology, and society. Data were collected from both textbooks and analyzed by calculating the percentage scores for each dimension. Findings: The results showed that Textbook I (Erlangga) had a higher percentage score than Textbook II (Grafindo). The highest dimensions in both books were "science as a way of thinking" (Book I: 61.25%; Book II: 52.50%) and "science as an investigative process" (Book I: 62.50%; Book II: 53.12%). The dimension with the lowest score was "science-technology-society interaction" (Book I: 55.00%; Book II: 48.75%). This book analysis provides empirical evidence about the importance of balancing science literacy dimensions and the need to develop textbooks that improve students' comprehensive science literacy. Contribution: This study provides a comparative insight into how different high school biology textbooks represent dimensions of scientific literacy, offering empirical guidance for improving the balance and depth of literacy components in future textbook development

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the relationship between online learning interest and students' cognitive learning outcomes during online Biology learning at Muhammadiyah 1 Medan Private Junior High School. Observations show that online learning interest and learning outcomes are still relatively low, so an evaluation of online learning is needed. This research uses quantitative methods and the data analysis used is the product moment correlation data analysis to determine the positive relationship between online learning interest and students' cognitive learning outcomes during the online learning process at Muhammadiyah 1 Medan Private Junior High School.
