Abstract

Silvofishery is an environmentally friendly cultivation model that is now widely implemented in coastal areas of Indonesia. The aim of this research is to conduct a study on the use of saline tilapia fish (Oreochromis niloticus) as a cultivar in silvofishery cultivation. The research method used is qualitative descriptive research. The parameters studied are water quality and aspects of the financial feasibility of the business. The research results showed that the weight of saline tilapia fish during cultivation ranged from 3.01-21.24 gr (13.37 ± 6.53) and biomass growth was 3,010-19,116 kg (12,886 ± 7.79). Silvofishery water quality parameters produced data: pH 7.8-8.2 (8.0 ± 0.14), dissolved oxygen 4.01-5.92 mg/L (4.90 ± 0.55), temperature 31.00-32,750C (31,800C ± 0.60), salinity 5-8 gr/L ( 6.3 ± 1.28) and organic matter 54.32-73.87 mg/L (62.90 ± 6.33). The financial feasibility value of the business shows a profit value of IDR. 8,840,000,-, R/C Ratio 1.55, BEP unit 297 kg, BEP sales Rp. 4,428,000,-, profitability 25%, Net Present Value Rp. 101,528,000,-, IRR 20.45%, and payback period 2.7 years. Based on the presentation of research data, saline tilapia is highly recommended as a commodity for silvofishery cultivation. The conclusion of this research is that saline tilapia would be ideal to be used as the main commodity in silvofishery cultivation activities carried out in coastal areas.

Abstract

Mangrove trees have an important function for the coastal ecosystem. The purpose of this community service activity is to carry out mangrove planting activities using bamboo roof media in the coastal area of Pekalongan. The method used in this community service is field observation and social action of planting 550 A. marina mangrove seeds by 26 participants. The results of the community service show that the community service participants absolutely feel that they have obtained valuable benefits in the form of enrichment of knowledge about mangroves and valuable social experiences. The participants also feel enthusiastic about participating in the activity and want to participate again if there is a similar activity. The participants also recommended several places for future planting, such as in coastal areas that are prone to disasters, dead coastal areas, and shallow water areas that are inundated. From the results of this community service, it can be concluded that the mangrove planting activity on the coast of Pekalongan is considered very effective to be used as a model for community service activities based on social action activities or active participation carried out by community groups. This can be seen from the achievement of tangible benefits obtained from the results of the activities that have been carried out.

Abstract

Introduction: Silvofishery is an innovative environmentally friendly aquatic cultivation concept that is currently widely developed in coastal areas with various cultivation commodities. The purpose of this research is to analyze the feasibility of saline tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) as a biological, ecological, and financial commodity for silvofishery cultivation. Methods: This research method utilized a causal ex-post facto design on four silvofishery ponds. The parameters studied include water quality, biological parameters of fish, plankton abundance, and financial feasibility parameters of the business. Results: The research results show that the weight of saline tilapia ranged from 3.01 to 21.24 gr/fish (13.37 ± 6.53) and biomass growth ranged from 3.010 to 19.116 kg (12.886 ± 7.79). Silvofishery water quality parameters resulted in pH data of 7.8-8.2 (8.0 ± 0.14), dissolved oxygen of 4.01-5.92 mg/L (4.90 ± 0.55), temperature of 31.00-32.75°C (31.80°C ± 0.60), salinity of 5-8 gr/L (6.3 ± 1.28), and organic matter of 54.32-73.87 mg/L (62.90 ± 6.33). Plankton abundance ranged from 10,000 to 90,000 cells/ml with the dominance of the genus Chlorella sp. The business feasibility analysis results showed a profit value of Rp. 8,840,000,-, R/C Ratio of 1.55, BEP unit of 297 kg, BEP sales of Rp. 4,428,000,-, profitability of 25%, Net Present Value of Rp. 101,528,000,-, IRR of 20.45%, and payback period of 2.7 years. This means that based on growth performance, pond water quality conditions, and business profit levels, the use of saline tilapia commodities in silvofishery pond cultivation is highly recommended. Conclusion: The conclusion of this research is that saline tilapia commodities are highly suitable when used as a primary cultivation in integrated and comprehensive silvofishery activities.
