Abstract

The availability and usability of a smartphone application in Indonesia for preventing anemia, particularly for adolescents, are understudied due to the large number of health applications available for hematologic diseases. This research aims to provide a comprehensive overview of a mobile application development process to prevent anemia among adolescents and test its usability to the end user. The study analyzed the usability of a hybrid application called "AneMia-Prev" at a junior high school in Serang, Banten, Indonesia. The application was developed through conducting a content review, creating a prototype, and undergoing expert development. The usability was assessed by 15 adolescents using a Think Aloud and Smartphone Usability questionnaire. Meanwhile, data analysis was conducted using Jaspers' iterative 3-cycle model. The AneMia_Prev (TA) application was developed using server-client architecture, MySQL database, Apache Tomcat, and Spring Framework. A usability test was conducted on 15 female end users, with a mean age of 16.8 years and 60.0% of them in grade 8. The application received an overall usability average of 112.5 points, indicating good usability. The study demonstrates the high usability of the prototype, indicating its effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction, suggesting that future research could use TA methods with larger sample sizes

Abstract

Health education is essential in promoting awareness and reducing stigma related to various medical conditions. Health education for pregnant women is vital to increase their knowledge about various aspects of health, including hepatitis B. Health education using the lecture-discussion method effectively conveys medical information and facilitates participants’ more profound understanding. This study aims to determine the influence of health education using the lecture-discussion method on knowledge about hepatitis B infection in pregnant women. This study uses pre-experimental research. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis, and the number of samples was 144 respondents. The results show a significant influence of health education with lecture and discussion methods on pregnant women’s knowledge about hepatitis B infection. Health education, which integrates lectures and discussions, is hoped to be carried out continuously and sustainably to increase knowledge about hepatitis B infection in pregnant women. The researcher’s recommendation in the future is to provide health education with a combination method integration (video, lecture, and discussion) in control groups and interventions. This research contributes to providing information and assisting in designing more effective health education interventions.

Abstract

Background: Diabetic foot ulcers are a serious complication that increases morbidity and amputation risk in patients with diabetes mellitus. Self-care is an important aspect of diabetes management that includes various health behaviours, such as diet, exercise, blood sugar monitoring, medication adherence and foot care. Purpose: To measures the relationship between the level of self-care of patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) and the risk of diabetic foot ulcers. Method: This study uses Analytical research methods using a Crossectional study approach. The sample size in this study used total sampling, from January to early March 2025, totalling 66 respondents. Data analysis to find the relationship between variables using non-parametric correlation test analysis, namely Spearman Correlation with a meaning level of 95% (0.05) because the data is ordinal scale. Results: This study found that based on statistical tests there was a correlation between the level of self-care and the risk of diabetic foot ulcers with a p value of 0.000 <0.05. Spearman's correlation value of 0.521 shows a positive correlation with a fairly strong correlation strength. Conclusion: The better the level of self-care of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients, the lower their risk of developing diabetic foot ulcers.

Abstract

Background: Anemia remains a critical public health issue among adolescents, particularly in developing countries such as Indonesia. Poor nutritional knowledge and limited awareness of anemia-related symptoms, etiology, and prevention exacerbate this condition. Mobile health (mHealth) technologies have the potential to address these gaps through accessible, engaging, and scalable education tools. This study aimed to validate the content of AneMia_Prev®, a mobile application designed as an educational tool to enhance adolescent knowledge on the prevention of anemia. Methods: A Delphi technique was employed involving two rounds of expert panel review. Twelve experts with clinical and academic backgrounds in nursing and public health evaluated the content of AneMia_Prev® based on relevance, clarity, layout, illustrations, language, and motivational features. The Content Validity Index (CVI) and modified kappa statistics were used to assess inter-rater agreement and content adequacy. Data were collected through an online survey using a 17-item validated questionnaire. Results: In the first round, all 17 items achieved excellent content validity with I-CVI values ranging from 0.87 to 1.00 and kappa values above 0.87. Following minor expert recommendations, a revised version of the application was re-evaluated, resulting in unanimous ratings of excellence (I-CVI = 1.00; kappa > 0.92 for all items). Experts emphasized the application’s innovation, relevance, and potential to promote anemia awareness among adolescents. Conclusion: AneMia_Prev® demonstrated excellent content validity and is considered suitable for educational interventions targeting anemia prevention among adolescents. Future research is recommended to assess semantic validation, cognitive impact, and learning outcomes among adolescent users to further refine the tool and evaluate its effectiveness in real-world settings.

Abstract

Introduction: Anemia is when the blood's hemoglobin (Hb) level is less than usual. Anemia is a nutritional problem that is prevalent throughout the world. Anemia occurs not only in developing countries but also in developed countries. Anemia can occur anywhere and can happen to anyone. The impact of anemia on adolescent girls in the short term is to disrupt growth and development, reduce physical ability and work activity, reduce learning concentration, and hurt the digestive tract, central nervous system, cardiovascular system, and immunity. Material and Methods: This research is a literature review. Articles according to the theme were selected from 2018-2023 from electronic databases such as Science Direct, PubMed, and Google Scholar. We used the PRISMA method for the analysis of the literature review. Results: From 217 selected articles, 16 eligible studies were thoroughly reviewed, and only 10 could be analyzed. The results of the ten articles examined that many factors affect adherence to taking Fe tablets, namely knowledge that dominates in the matter. Conclusion: With the help of their parents, families, and teachers, the students exhibited a promising level of compliance with taking iron tablets, which is anticipated to lower the prevalence of anemia among teenage girls.
