Abstract

Pendahuluan: Karies  gigi  adalah penyakit  infeksi  dan  merupakan  suatu  proses  demineralisasi  yang  progresif  pada  jaringan keras  permukaan  gigi  oleh  asam  yang  berasal  dari  makanan  yang  mengandung gula. Anak Berkebutuhan Khusus atau ABK merupakan individu dengan karakteristik khusus yang berbeda dengan anak pada umumnya, khususnya pada aspek kognitif, emosi, atau fisik tingginya angka karies pada anak berkebutuhan khusus di Kelas Inklusi SDN Mojo III Surabaya. Tujuan: untuk mengetahui hubungan antara pH saliva dan karies gigi pada anak berkebutuhan khusus di Kelas Inklusi SDN Mojo III Surabaya. Metode: jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 40 responden yang berada di kelas inklusi di SDN Mojo III Surabaya yang terdiri dari 28 siswa laki-laki dan 12 siswa perempuan. Teknik analisa data menggunakan uji korelasi spearman. Hasil: pH saliva anak berkebutuhan khusus di Kelas Inklusi SDN Mojo III Surabaya termasuk dalam kategori rendah (asam), sedangkan angka karies gigi termasuk dalam kategori tinggi. Kesimpulan: ada hubungan antara pH saliva dan karies pada anak berkebutuhan khusus di Kelas Inklusi SDN Mojo III Surabaya Tahun 2023.

Abstract

The elderly experience a decline in immune function, making them susceptible to dental and oral diseases, one of which is gum bleeding. Improper tooth brushing techniques can cause gum bleeding because brushing in the wrong direction can make the gums bleed easily and leave food residues uncleaned. Problem: The high percentage of gum bleeding during tooth brushing in the elderly at the Posyandu Lansia Kampung Mustika Baru Ngagel Surabaya in 2024. On average, the elderly have poor tooth brushing techniques. Objective: To analyze the relationship between tooth brushing methods and gum bleeding in the elderly at the Posyandu Lansia Kampung Mustika Baru Ngagel Surabaya in 2024. Research Method: This research is an analytical cross-sectional study. Sampling was done using purposive sampling with a sample of 36 elderly individuals. The data collection instruments used were observation sheets to measure tooth brushing methods and examination sheets to identify gum bleeding. The analysis technique used was the Chi-square test. Research Results: On average, the elderly's tooth brushing methods, after observation, were categorized as poor. There is a significant relationship between tooth brushing methods and gum bleeding in the elderly at the Posyandu Lansia Kampung Mustika Baru Ngagel Surabaya, with an asymp.sig (α) value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The better the elderly brush their teeth, the less likely they are to experience gum bleeding, thereby reducing the risk of gum bleeding

Abstract

The results of the research by Prasetyowati et al (2019) in the Bugul Kidul Public Health Center, Pasuruan, it was found that as many as 53% of toddlers showed short nutritional status and 47% with very short status. Based on the results of the initial survey, it was found that 90% of parents did not know there was a relationship between stunting and tooth eruption of toddlers. The results of observations of tooth eruption in toddlers with stunting were found to be 77% experiencing slow tooth eruption. One of the duties of cadres is to provide knowledge to the public about health. The community emopowerment program aims to increase the knowledge of cadres in knowing the relationship between stunting and tooth eruption. Increased knowledge of cadres is expected to increase knowledge, attitudes and behavior of the community in preventing stunting and its impact on children's dental health. The method of community service activities is in the form of counseling to candidates. The results of community service activities are that almost 90% of cadres already know the relationship between stunting and tooth eruption. The conclusion that can be formulated is that counseling to cadres in the Bugul Kidul Health Center area of ​​Pasuruan City can increase the knowledge of cadres.
