Abstract

Poverty causes families to be unable to meet the needs of adequate housing for themselves and their families. Not everyone is able to meet their housing needs for economic reasons. One of the basic human needs is a house in the context of decentralized housing provision. Currently, there is no housing provision system in the regions that is responsive to developing needs. This is due to the lack of developed understanding that housing is also a public matter apart from being an individual matter. The aim of implementing the House Renovation Program is targeting poor people who have uninhabitable houses. The house renovation program has had an impact on poverty alleviation in Gowa District, Makassar. Community Service Activities (PKM) by the Indonesian Teachers and Lecturers Association in collaboration with IKAT Japan South Sulawesi as a form of improving the problem of poverty for our underprivileged brothers and sisters with a house renovation program. Apart from alleviating the problem of poverty through this house renovation program, it is hoped that those who receive Mr. Ridwan's assistance will be helped by comfortable accessibility with their families.

Abstract

Background: Maternal emergencies are life-threatening conditions during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. Prompt and appropriate midwifery intervention can reduce maternal morbidity and mortality. Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of various midwifery interventions in managing maternal emergencies based on a literature review. Methods: This study used a literature review method by reviewing scientific articles published between 2015 and 2025. Searches were conducted through the PubMed, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, and DOAJ databases using the keywords "maternal emergency," "midwifery care," and "emergency obstetric intervention." Inclusion criteria included studies discussing midwifery interventions in maternal emergencies, published in English or Indonesian, and available in full-text. Results: Of the 25 articles reviewed, midwifery interventions such as postpartum hemorrhage management with active management of the third stage of labor, the use of magnesium sulfate in preeclampsia/eclampsia, fluid resuscitation in shock, and the partograph technique for labor monitoring were proven effective in reducing complications. Rapid response, clinical skills, and coordination with the medical team were key factors for success. Conclusion: Evidence-based midwifery interventions, implemented quickly and in a coordinated manner, play a significant role in reducing maternal morbidity and mortality. Routine training and capacity building for midwives are needed to strengthen the response to maternal emergencies.

Abstract

Unwanted pregnancy among adolescent girls remains a significant public health issue with serious impacts on physical, psychological, social, and economic aspects. Limited knowledge of reproductive health, poor decision-making skills, and environmental influences are contributing factors to this problem. This Community Service Program aimed to increase knowledge and awareness of reproductive health among adolescent girls as an effort to prevent unwanted pregnancy. The program included a pre-test, interactive lectures, group discussions, educational video screenings, leaflet distribution, and a post-test for evaluation. It was conducted in July 2025 at SMA X, Kota Y, involving 50 adolescent girls as participants. The results showed an increase in the average knowledge score from 56.2 to 75.9, representing a 35% improvement after the educational intervention. Participants demonstrated high enthusiasm, with 80% actively asking questions or sharing opinions. This program indicates that participatory-based reproductive health education can effectively improve adolescent girls’ knowledge and is expected to serve as a preventive measure to reduce the incidence of unwanted pregnancy among teenagers.

Abstract

Problems and complications that arise due to injuries, if they do not receive proper and serious treatment, can result in lifelong disability and this causes lifelong suffering for the client. The aim of the research is to determine the description of nurses' knowledge of emergency management of injured patients at Bhayangkara Hospital, Manado, North Sulawesi. This research design uses a descriptive design, a research design that is structured in such a way that researchers can obtain answers to research questions. Research design refers to the type or kind of research chosen to achieve research objectives, and acts as a tool and guide to achieve these objectives. The research results show that a person's length of work in an organization or agency is not synonymous with high productivity. People with a long period of service do not mean they have a high level of proficiency. The longer someone works, the more skilled and experienced they are in their job.

Abstract

The increasing number of elderly women leads to various health problems, particularly urinary tract infections (UTIs) and osteoporosis, which commonly occur due to physiological and hormonal changes. The lack of knowledge among elderly women regarding disease prevention contributes to the high incidence of UTIs and reduced quality of life. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and awareness of elderly women about the prevention of UTIs and osteoporosis through midwifery health education at the Community Health Center X. The implementation methods included interactive lectures, group discussions, light exercise demonstrations, and distribution of educational leaflets. A total of 40 elderly women aged 55–70 years participated in this activity. Evaluation results showed a 75% increase in knowledge and improved behavior regarding personal hygiene and regular physical activity. This activity contributes positively to improving the quality of life among elderly women through promotive and preventive midwifery approaches.
