Abstract

Abstract

Geothermal is one of the natural resources that has great potential to be utilized as a renewable energy source. The existence of subsurface geothermal sources is illustrated by the emergence of geothermal manifestations. This study was conducted to map the distribution of land surface temperature and determine the temperature gradient pattern around the geothermal manifestation of Tempang Dua Village, Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi. This study used a field observation method by measuring the temperature of well water, shallow hot springs, and steamy soil using a thermometer conducted in the afternoon to evening. The results of the study obtained the distribution of water temperature with a temperature of 28o C-90oC with an elevation ranging from 724-760 masl and a depth of the well water surface of 0-23 meters. The temperature distribution pattern obtained shows a tendency in the higher areas on the contour map to have the highest water temperature.

Abstract

This research focused on conducting a content analysis of the Erlangga English Textbook “Pathway” used in the first senior high school. The study aimed to evaluate the content alignment within the textbook. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were gathered from the “Pathway” textbook authored by Th. M. Sudarwati and Eudia Grace, edited by Yuniar Widiastuti and Dwi Wahyu Priyanto, and published by Erlangga Publisher in 2016. Designed for Senior High School and MA Grade X, the textbook features 118 essay reading questions, among which 107 questions (90.7%) emphasize lower-order thinking skills, and 11 questions (9.3%) focus on higher-order thinking skills (HOTS). Specifically, within the HOTS questions, 2 questions (1.7%) pertain to analytical skills, and 9 questions (7.6%) relate to evaluative skills, with no questions dedicated to creative skills. This analysis concludes that the reading exercises in the Erlangga English Textbook “Pathway” are deficient in Higher Order Thinking Skills, with a predominant emphasis on lower-order thinking skills. Among the 11 HOTS questions identified, the evaluating skill emerges as the most frequently utilized within the reading exercises of this textbook.

Abstract

This study explores the experiences of Muslim and Christian peace activists in Jember, Indonesia, in fostering interfaith dialogue rooted in the pursuit of inner meaning and universal human values. Within Indonesia’s multicultural context, which often grapples with social fragmentation, the research reveals how both communities employ spiritual wisdom as a foundation for reconciliation, transcending formal theological differences. Utilizing a qualitative approach, the findings demonstrate that interfaith dialogue in Jember extends beyond the exchange of perspectives to include collective immersion into the esoteric dimensions of religion—such as reflections on humility, compassion, and awareness of transcendent unity. Barriers like historical conflicts and divergent interpretations of sacred texts are mitigated through practices of silaturahmi hati (heartfelt spiritual kinship), where Muslim activists embrace the principle of mahabbah (universal love), while Christian counterparts draw on parallel contemplative traditions. The study concludes that interreligious harmony in Jember emerges not from doctrinal uniformity but from a commitment to nurturing hidden threads of spiritual light woven through its diverse societal fabric.
