Abstract

The interpretation of the term "leader" in reference to "auliya'" mentioned in Qs. al-Maidah: 51 has been a topic of debate among Indonesian Muslim scholars. In contrast to Farid Esack, who appears to lack understanding regarding the definition of leadership as it pertains to this verse, his focus remains firmly fixed on issues more relevant to the South African context. This study endeavors to propose Farid Esack's interpretation of the term auliya' in Qs. al-Maidah: 51, as it pertains to the South African context. Specifically, it examines his exploration of the word's meaning and delves into the implications of his unique perspective. This goal can be used as an alternative to other interpretations related to the word auliya' in Qs. al-Maidah. 51: 51. The research is a qualitative research with literature data which is analysed descriptively. The main data in this research is the meaning of the word auliya' in the book Qur'an Liberation & Pluralism by Farid Esack. The analysis of Esack's meaning presentation is conducted by examining the literature by revisionist mufassirs. The findings of this investigation conclude that Farid Esack, based on his liberation hermeneutics, interprets the term auliya to connote collaboration and solidarity. The implication of Esack's interpretation is that it is impermissible for a Muslim to collaborate with non-Muslims unless he does not forsake Muslims, intends to safeguard believers, has entered into a peace treaty with believers, and refrains from fighting against them. When contextualized within South Africa, Esack contends that a believer can cooperate with non-Muslims if it promotes the well-being of Muslims and combats racist conduct, oppression and injustice. However, to ascertain the pertinence of utilizing these interpretations within the Indonesian context, additional research is imperative. This study solely focuses on scrutinizing the outcomes and consequences of Esack's interpretation.

Abstract

The exsistence of nāsikh-mansūkh in the Qur'an frequently sparks debate among Muslim scholars. Whether or not nāsikh-mansūkh is accepted as an interpretive tool will lead to different interpretive implications. In the case of plural verses (Qs. al-Baqarah/2: 62 and Qs. al-Maidah/5: 69), the use of nāsikh-mansūkh as a tool for interpretive analysis tends to lead to the conclusion that there is no salvation for non-Muslims in the hereafter. On the other hand, not using nāsikh-mansūkh as an analysis of the interpretation of plural verses tends to lead to the conclusion that non-Muslims will still receive salvation in the afterlife. This research aims to see the implications of T.M Hasbi ash-Shiddieqy's interpretation of plural verses without considering nāsikh-mansūkh as an interpretation tool. This research is qualitative research with descriptive analysis. This research suggests that the non-use of nāsikh-mansūkh in Hasbi's interpretation does not have significant implications. The results of the interpretation he put forward are the same as those of scholars who agree with the existence of nāsikh-mansūkh in plural verses, namely that salvation in the afterlife belongs only to Muslims.

Abstract

Reducing the stunting rate is one of the programs being carried out by the government of the Republic of Indonesia. By mobilizing all existing components of society, the prevalence of stunting in Indonesia in 2024 is expected to decrease to 14%. Based on these reasons, the public as the main object in the presidential order is expected to intervene by knowing what causes stunting and how to overcome and cure it. This research was conducted in Jarit Village, Candipuro sub-district, Lumajang district, East Java using the CBR (Community Based Research) method. The method of presenting the data is descriptive-qualitative and analyzed by comparing the data obtained from the literature review process. The conclusion obtained in this study is that mothers of toddlers who are infected with stunting in Jarit village do not apply the parenting pattern that should be applied to their children. The innovation that is applied related to handling these problems is to apply GEMAS as an application from a community-based movement that focuses on handling stunting.
