Abstract

Safety at the building is a safe condition physically, socially, spiritually, psychologically and other threats that endanger humans. Building Safety not only focus on active fire protection, but also need to concern about passive protection. Regarding from that safety aspect, the aspect of building life saving is a prevention for building users so that they have time for evacuation process until they leave the building. The aspect of saving lives is reviewed from the fulfillment of criteria such as distance between buildings, fire fighting access routes, pavement layers or hardstanding, fire fighting access inside buildings, access to exit facilities (corridors), access to exit facilities (doors), lighting on evacuation routes. , Signage, Placement of assembly point. So that an evacuation plan is created along with the fulfillment of protect users in saving lives at the building.

Abstract

Hallway of the Lung Hospital DR. H. A. Rotinsulu is one of the facilities that functions as the accessibility of relationships between spaces or between buildings. Tues as referred to in the Lung Hospital DR. H. A. Rotinsulu is a means of connecting circulation pathways between rooms or between buildings outside a building that is not limited by walls or limited by at most 1 (one) side wall. The object of Architectural Criticism is the hall of Dr. Lung Hospital. H.A Rotinsulu Bandung. Architectural criticism is carried out in the form of observations and measurements in the field on several walkway segments, based on the steepness of the contours that have been measured influenced by the long span of each walkway segment, which has been divided into observations according to the existing conditions of the walkways of Dr. Lung Hospital. H. A Rotinsulu Bandung, then a study was carried out in the form of an evaluation of the existing conditions of the walkway according to Ministerial Regulation PUPR No. 14 of 2017 concerning Requirements for Building Facilities and Law no. 8 of 2016 concerning Persons with Disabilities. The aspects studied are: 1. Needs for space for movement of users, 2. Circulation, 3. Guiding paths 4. Placement of gathering points, 5. Waiting area or right of way in transit to the hall rest. The basic dimensions of space and related facilities according to the object of observation refer to the Universal Design principle or the principle of inclusive design so that each user can move easily, safely, comfortably and independently.

Abstract

Abstract

Patient care in a Class D hospital care facility involves a very important physical environment and is a crucial part of facilitating healing. Apart from that, this environment also has a significant relationship with psychological aspects that can support the acceleration of the patient's recovery process. One of the factors causing patients to experience boredom and a slow recovery process is the uncomfortable environment of the treatment area (inpatient), so that the healing process will be hampered. This study is an architectural critique of inpatient care in a built class D hospital, evaluated by the literature review that has been presented to obtain a conclusion that can be used to carry out architectural criticism in the form of recommendations or input for better architectural design work. This study uses a normative critical method with a derivative type of measurable method to analyze the structural and architectural design of inpatient rooms at the Kertasari Hospital, Bandung Regency. The results of the discussion were 72.72% in accordance with standards, 27.28% were not in accordance so they needed improvement and required quality improvement. This increase can be translated into renovation activities, or changes to the interior layout to comply with regulations, and aspects of health facility space/building requirements.

Abstract

Despite the progress made with BIM integration into the construction industries of many developed countries, its adoption remains limited in most developing countries. This study systematically reviews 56 articles using the TOE framework to identify and analyse critical barriers that impede BIM implementation within architectural design contexts. Following the PRISMA guidelines, the review categorizes these barriers into three primary dimensions: technological, organizational and environmental. The results revealed that critical technological barriers, such as the high cost of hardware and software, compatibility issues with design tools, and technical complexities in using the technology, hinder architectural innovation and visualization capabilities. Organizational barriers, including insufficient BIM-trained professionals, lack of awareness of BIM capabilities, resistance within design teams and lack of management support, significantly delay BIM integration in design studio workflows. Environmental barriers such as insufficient regulatory frameworks, lack of client demand for BIM-based project design, and weak collaboration across multidisciplinary consultants slow the adoption of digital design practices. The study underscores the interrelated characteristics of these critical barriers, which form a perpetuating cycle that limits the evolution of design practices in developing countries. Addressing these interrelated barriers is crucial for improving design creativity and integrating BIM into studio practices. Future research should examine regional variances and pedagogical strategies for overcoming the BIM adoption challenges in architectural contexts.

Abstract

The construction industry’s digital transformation demands professionals with advanced digital skills. This study assesses the digital competencies of construction students at Ghana’s technical universities, focusing on self-reported proficiency and perceived job readiness. Based on data from 271 final-year students across six institutions, the study employs a data-driven quantitative approach using a structured questionnaire and analyses through descriptive statistics, correlation, and regression. Findings reveal moderate proficiency in foundational skills like digital literacy and communication, but significant gaps in advanced areas such as cloud computing, 3D modelling, and coding. While students report high access to general digital tools, training in emerging technologies remains limited. Regression results indicate that digital literacy, planning and estimation skills, and access to training resources are key predictors of job readiness. The study highlights the need for curriculum reforms that incorporate a wider range of digital competencies aligned with Construction 4.0. It recommends enhancing hands-on learning, improving institutional support systems, and encouraging self-directed skill development. These interventions are crucial to bridging the gap between academic preparation and industry expectations, equipping graduates with the capabilities required for a digitally evolving construction sector in Ghana.
