Abstract

Kurikulum Merdeka represents Indonesia's strategic response to the demands of Society 5.0, an era marked by pervasive technology integration. As an educational innovation, it aims to cultivate future-ready individuals adept at utilizing technology, possessing competitiveness, and providing innovative solutions for society. The curriculum emphasizes developing 21st century skills like critical thinking, creativity, and digital literacy through student-centered, project-based learning and formative assessments. Key opportunities include nurturing an adaptable, tech-savvy workforce and aligning education with industry needs. However, challenges arise in teacher readiness for constructivist pedagogy, technological competence, and the need for continuous curriculum updates. Successful implementation requires enhancing teacher training, providing adequate technological infrastructure, and fostering multi-stakeholder collaboration in curriculum design and evaluation. Policy reflection is crucial to optimize Kurikulum Merdeka's responsiveness to Society 5.0's rapid changes. By addressing opportunities, overcoming obstacles, and ensuring industry relevance, Indonesia can effectively prepare its youth to thrive in an increasingly digitalized world while driving sustainable societal progress. Proactive policy measures can position the education system as a catalyst for innovation and human capital development in the Society 5.0 landscape..

Abstract

The research aimed to investigate the metaphorical representations employed by comedians in delivering social criticism through Indonesian stand-up comedy. Metaphors played a crucial role in shaping how to understand and interpret social reality. Through metaphors, speakers or writers could frame subjects or concepts in ways that influence the audience’s perceptions and attitudes, perpetuating certain ideologies and power structures. Stand-up comedy prioritized the individual performer’s voice, but its success relied on the ability to make people laugh by tapping into shared cultural ideologies and societal power dynamics. Abdur Arsyad is an example of an Indonesian comedian who presents stand-up material containing social criticism of various societal issues and ideological assumptions. The research analyzed Arsyad’s comedy through Norman Fairclough’s threedimensional critical discourse analysis model of description, interpretation, and explanation of text, discursive practice, and sociocultural practice. The descriptive dimension examined how Arsyad used language to construct representations of the world shaped by ideology. The interpretative dimension analyzed how his language perpetuated or challenged power relations and social hierarchies. The explanatory dimension focused on how Arsyad’s representations of social identities were informed by dominant ideologies. A qualitative method wasapplied to obtain data from Arsyad’s performances on the KompasTV YouTube channel using documentation, library research, and note-taking techniques. The results reveal that Arsyad employs a range of metaphorical representations across Fairclough’s three textual values to critique and influence social norms and actions. Fairclough’s paradigm allows for a detailed examination of how comedy functions as social criticism, providing insights into the complex interplay between language, ideology, authority, and community.

Abstract

The subject of this study is to analyze the use of endocentric and exocentric phrases contained in the implementation of the vision and mission of the 2024 presidential candidates. The purpose of this research is to analyze the use of endocentric and exocentric phrases included in the presidential candidates' vision-mission presentation. The research method used in this research is a qualitative method using listening and recording techniques. The research data to be obtained are endocentric and exocentric phrases used by each presidential candidate in implementing the vision mission. The data source of this research comes from the YouTube video streaming platform of the official KompasTV channel. In implementing the vision and mission of the presidential candidates, the researcher arrived at the following research results. First, endocentric phrases have different types based on word structure, namely coordinative, attributive, and appositive endocentric phrases. Meanwhile, exocentric phrases have different types based on word structure, namely directive and non-directive exocentric phrases. Second, every phrase that the presidential candidates use in expressing their vision and mission is included in the existing phrase classifications, although not all of them.

Abstract

This study analyzes the representation of digital dystopia in The Matrix film series through Jean Baudrillard’s simulacra theory and Tom Moylan’s critical dystopia framework. Using qualitative analysis of key scenes and dialogues, the research traces the evolution of control mechanisms from physical oppression to psychological and biological manipulation. The franchise progresses through four stages of simulacra: reflection of reality (counterfeit), concealment (production), autonomous simulation, and hyperreality. Findings reveal how digital capitalism weaponizes narratives, eroding critical consciousness through algorithmic curation, deepfakes, and neuromarketing. While the films offer a robust critique of Western technocapitalism, their Eurocentric lens may overlook non-Western manifestations of digital authoritarianism, such as China’s Social Credit System. The study highlights real-world parallels, including social media’s role in polarization and AI’s capacity to hijack emotional networks. Practical implications call for algorithmic transparency, ethical AI governance, and critical digital literacy. Future research should explore dystopian narratives from the Global South to decentralize the discourse and address localized forms of digital oppression.
