Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menjawab rumusan masalah bagaimana literasi gender dikalangan mahasiswa jurusan Ilmu Komunikasi angkatan 2015 kelompok IKOM A. Metode yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Populasi sekaligus sampel dalam penelitian ini yaitu seluruh mahasiswa jurusan Ilmu Komunikasi pada angkatan 2017 kelompok IKOM A yang berjumlah 38 orang yang tercatat pada semester genap tahun akademik 2016/2017. Data yang diperoleh berdasarkan kategori, diukur dan dihitung menurut frekuensi dan persentasenya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat literasi mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi Kelas A masih relative kurang karena tidak disertai dengan upaya lain untuk lebih mengetahui dan mengembangkan wawasan terkait gender seperti halnya aktivitas menulis. Diharapkan hasil penelitian ini menjadi pijakan awal untuk menyosialisasikan, mengembangkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman  tentang pentingnya literasi gender di kalangan mahasiswa.

Abstract

Today, the awareness to use mass media in building its image among universities is increasingly visible. This is triggered by the increasingly intense competition for new students, including the State Islamic University (UIN) Alauddin Makassar. Based on the results of research, it was found that the friend is the main or dominant information source used by new students to obtain information about uin Alauddin Makassar. Other media such as billboards and brochures are also used although relatively small. In addition the family is also a source of information for prospective freshmen. A strong factor of personal interest is the most dominant factor influencing the respondent's decision in choosing UIN Alauddin Makassar as a place of lecture.

Abstract

This study aims to answer the question of how the form of gender equality resistance described by Nurul Ilmi Idrus in my Suaraku Ekspres Book through the analysis of the discourse of Teun A. Van Djik model.Based on research focus and methodological aspects, the type of research used is qualitative research because it is considered relevant as a research method to analyze a problem about the construction of gender equality values in my Suaraku Ekspres Book written by Nurul Ilmi Idrus. The research location of the researcher is more unbound because it is a literature research. The time used in this research process is two months from November to January 2018. The approach in this research is the approach of study of discourse analysis of Teun A. Van Djik model, that is approach which see text factor as important element in discourse.Based on the result of this research is the construction of gender equality values in the book Suaraku Eskpresiku by Nurul Imi Idrus it can be concluded that the form of gender equality is divided into three forms, namely; First, the form of gender equality in education where men and women have equal opportunities to get a decent education. Second, the form of gender equality in the household. Thirdly, the form of gender equality in social society ie Men and women alike have equal opportunity to enter into organization, to lead a mass media, have rights in conveying ideas, thoughts related to social condition of society

Abstract

This study discusses the development of child courtesy through persuasive communication of parents in Kelurahan Pampang Makassar which aims to answer the research question, what is the form of persuasive parental communication towards the development of child decency in Pampang District of Makassar City and what are the factors inhibiting parental persuasive communication towards fostering child politeness in Pampang Urban Village Makassar? This type of research is classified as a qualitative descriptive study with research subjects are parents, children, and community members. Data collection methods by observation, interview, and documentation. The results showed that (1) Persuasive communication that is applied in fostering child politeness is the exemplary method and the habituation method. (2) The inhibiting factors are the parents' busyness and the influence of the environment outside the home.

Abstract

The persistence of the COVID-19 crisis has charged uncertainty and anxiety in public since March 2020. The government provides one of the strategic issues to respond to this crisis which is theology ritual so-called praying. However, public mostly do not respond to it. The data obtained from two news articles regarding to government's reaction in dealing with COVID-19 taken from tempo.co and Hans-Georg Gadamer hermeneutic method is used to analyse the data. The findings of this study indicate the symbol of theology ritual is not the crisis communication that should not be taken by government. It implicates that if the logic of text is reciprocal with the context of public, it subsequently has potential to be more accepted that means constructing public compliance.

Abstract

Ma’badong is one of the Toraja ethnic culture that is still carried out. Ma’badong is one of the rituals of the Rambu Solo’ which was originally performed by adherents of Aluk Todolo confidence. Tana Toraja culture is inseparable from the early belief that the Toraja Aluk Todolo (ancestral spirits adore). This study aims to determine the meaning of denotation, connotation and myth contained in cultural Ma’badong. This type of research is a qualitative study using Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis. The research results show that Ma’badong within the meaning of denotation is derived from the Toraja language Ma' means "do", so Ma’badong means doing dances and singing Badong. Denotation meaning can only be viewed from the standpoint of empirical Ma’badong like movement, costume colors namely black, a place of execution, place, cutting the buffalo at least 3 buffaloes, duration, and poetry. Ma’badong in connotation meaning is sorrow dancing and singing held in death ceremony (Rambu Solo') to commemorate the biographies of those who died and begged blessing. Ma’badong within the meaning of myth in Barthes concept associated with abstinence and traditional stories of the past or of the mystical and the supernatural in the life of Toraja tribe cannot be denied its existence. The meaning of the myth of Ma’badong drawn from myth to not carelessly make Ma’badong, must wear a black costume for Ma’badong and sacrifice the animal in Rambu Solo’ ceremony.

Abstract

This research examines Mubalig Kodam XIV / Hasanuddin's distinctive social media branding strategy for da'wah communication. The research methodology involves a qualitative approach, with data collected from interviews with five key informants and content analysis of lectures uploaded to social media on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok in 2024 by the XIV Hasanuddin regional commander's preachers. The study unearthed three significant findings. Firstly, the innovative use of platform-specific strategies is pivotal in optimizing engagement. Facebook serves as a platform for in-depth religious discussions. On the other hand, Instagram emphasizes visual storytelling with series such as "Hadith in Uniform," and TikTok effectively targets younger audiences with short videos like "Rapid Fiqh." Secondly, audience engagement is bolstered through strategic posting times, direct interaction, and personalized responses. The peak engagement period is during the evening (6–8 PM local time). Live question-and-answer sessions significantly reduce the number of absent viewers compared to pre-recorded content. Thirdly, the preachers' image combines religious authority with military values, projecting credibility and moral integrity. This hybrid identity is reinforced through uploads that feature community service, avoid divisive political commentary, and maintain a balance between institutional and religious messages. Through these strategies, Mubalig Kodam XIV/Hasanuddin demonstrates how social media can be an effective tool for modern da'wah, leveraging its potential to reach diverse audiences while maintaining theological authenticity. The study offers practical recommendations, such as developing training modules for specific platforms, better content vetting processes, and an "algorithmic ijtihad" framework for adapting religious messages to digital platforms. These recommendations provide actionable insights for improving social media engagement in religious contexts.

Abstract

Ketika komunikasi politik menghendaki sebuah autentisitas pesan, ada pesan yang nyatanya jauh dari autentik. Mengetahui bagaimana komunikasi politik ini jauh dari autentik dapat membantu mengidentifikasi pilihan elit politik saat ini yang lebih banyak mengarah pada disorientasi pesan politik atau secara peyoratif dibilang pasca kebenaran. Akan tetapi, studi tentang refleksi kritis tentang komunikasi politik pasca kebenaran dalam pandangan tokoh publik masih sedikit dibahas. Tujuan studi ini adalah untuk menerangkan komunikasi politik para elit politik melalui refleksi pemikiran Ahmad Syafii Maarif. Data diperoleh dari telaah dokumen pemberitaan dari republika.co.id dengan judul “Politik Pasca Kebenaran” karya Ahmad Syafii Maarif. Hasil studi ini menandakan bahwa komunikasi politik para elit politik menjauh dari autentisitas komunikasi politik. Komunikasi politik mereka terkesan mengangkangi perintah moral politik. Ini membuat komunikasi politik terkesan ritual politik semata dengan pola-pola superfisial yang memposisikan publik sebatas objek politik yang tidak setara. Dengan kata lain, komunikasi politik yang hanya mencari pencitraan akan jatuh pada kehampaan moral politik. Implikasi penelitian ini mengisyaratkan bahwa jika pasca kebenaran adalah pilihan dalam komunikasi politik, maka tuna martabat adalah nilai yang pantas.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital media has transformed polit ical communication, particularly in local elections where social media function not only as channels of information but also as spaces for constructing political narratives and voter engagement. This study analyzes the digital political communication strategy of the MULIA candidate pair Munafri Arifuddin and Aliyah Mustika Ilham through Instagram during the Makassar mayoral election. Using a qualitative approach, this research applies critical discourse analysis developed by Norman Fairclough combined with agenda-setting theory from Maxwell McCombs and Donald Shaw. Data were collected through digital observation, documentation of campaign materials, and interviews with the campaign media team. A total of 419 Instagram posts published during the campaign period were analyzed to identify patterns of issue framing, political image construction, and digital campaign strategies. The findings show that the campaign implemented structured communication strategies including strategic issue selection, agenda setting, political marketing stages (awareness, likeability, and electability), and emotional branding through Hero and Caregiver archetypes. Instagram functioned not merely as a dissemination tool but as a discursive arena where political identity, legitimacy, and emotional connections with voters were constructed. The study highlights the growing importance of digital political communication in shaping public perception and influencing electoral participation in local democratic contests.

Abstract

This research explores the adaptation of the newspaper industry in Indonesia to shifts in the media business triggered by advancements in digital technology. Over the last two decades, there has been a significant shift in how the public accesses information, creating a stark contrast between online media consumers and print newspaper readers. This phenomenon poses a major challenge for conventional newspapers to transform in order to remain relevant. Using a literature review method, this study analyzes various relevant sources to identify factors influencing the sustainability of newspaper journalism in the digital era. The results of the study indicate that there are three formulations of the integration model of the existence of newspaper journalism, namely the structural-economic dimension, the professional-cultural dimension of journalism, and the theoretical dimension: Integration of convergence-mediamorphosis-political economy. The conclusion of this study confirms the theoretical contribution that the success of newspaper journalism in Indonesia is highly dependent on the ability of media convergence and mediamorphosis to change the consumption behavior of an increasingly digital society. By utilizing existing opportunities, newspapers can continue to contribute in providing quality and reliable information to the public, even though they have to compete fiercely with digital media.
