The use of augmented reality (AR) technology in educational media is expected to attract children's attention and make lessons more interesting to follow. This is because it can convey dental health content interactively and virtually in three dimensions in real time. To evaluate the effectiveness of the application of Augmented Reality (AR) technology as an educational media model in increasing the knowledge and understanding of elementary school children about dental and oral health, as well as to assess the potential of this technology as an interactive and interesting learning method for children. This research was carried out in November 2023. The population in this study is the total number of students of SD Minasa Upa. The sample was 60 people. The type of research used is a quasi-experimental design with a One Group Pretest-Poster research design. The design of this study aims to find out whether there is an influence on the use of AR technology as a dental health education medium in children. Increasing the knowledge of respondents. The results showed that 13 respondents (92.86%) experienced an increase in knowledge from bad to good, 1 respondent (7.14%) experienced an increase in bad knowledge to adequate, 14 respondents (87.5%) experienced an increase in knowledge less to good, and 2 respondents (12.5%) experienced an increase in knowledge less to adequate. Abstract

Oral hygiene is an important factor in maintaining children's health, especially in elementary school age. This study aims to measure the effectiveness of education on tooth brushing frequency in improving oral hygiene in elementary school students. This study involved 50 students from grades 4 and 5 at Sekolah Dasar Inpres Batua 1 who were given educational interventions on the importance of brushing their teeth twice a day, correct brushing techniques, and the use of fluoride-containing toothpaste. Measurements were made using plaque index before and after the intervention. The results showed a significant decrease in the average plaque index of students from 2.5 before education to 1.2 after education, with an increase in dental hygiene of 52%. In addition, the number of students who brushed their teeth twice a day increased from 40% to 90%, and students with a plaque index <2 increased from 20% to 70%. These results indicate that the education provided is effective in increasing awareness and good brushing habits among elementary school students. This study concludes that the educational intervention on tooth brushing frequency can significantly improve dental hygiene in elementary school students.

Abstract

Oral health is an important aspect in maintaining the quality of life of the elderly. However, the elderly often face challenges in maintaining oral hygiene due to decreased physical abilities, changes in cognitive status, and lack of knowledge and access to dental health services. This study aims to identify factors that influence oral hygiene in the elderly and to develop an effective community-based intervention to improve oral hygiene among the elderly. The methods used in this study included a survey of knowledge, attitudes, and oral hygiene practices before and after counseling, as well as direct observation of oral hygiene in 50 elderly in the local community. The intervention was carried out through counseling, training, and providing support from family and community. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge of the elderly, from 60% before counseling to 85% after. Positive attitudes also increased, with more than 80% of the elderly showing a stronger intention to maintain oral hygiene independently. Oral hygiene practices also improved, with 75% of participants reporting brushing their teeth at least twice a day after the intervention, compared to 40% before the intervention. In addition, family and community support play an important role in facilitating these behavioral changes. The conclusion of this study is that a comprehensive community-based intervention is effective in improving oral hygiene in the elderly. This approach, which combines education, attitude change, and social support, can be a model adopted in oral health programs in other communities to improve the quality of life of the elderly.
