Abstract

Leprosy is caused by the bacterium mycobacterium leprae, which can cause damage to the skin, nerves, eyes and can even cause disability to the sufferer. The purpose of this study was to determine the risk factors for leprosy in the working area of the Elly Uyo Health Center, Jayapura City. This type of research is analytic observational with a case control. The case group is leprosy sufferers and the control group is close neighbors of lepers who do not have leprosy. The sampling technique was simple random sampling for the case group and purposive sampling for the control group. The number of samples is 72 respondents with a ratio of 1:1. The measuring instrument used was a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods using the chi-square with a 95% confidence level followed by multivariate tests using logistic regression. The results of the chi-square showed that there was a risk between clothing cleanliness (p=0.047; OR=4.000) the habit of borrowing towels (p= 0.31; OR=3,250), and history of contact (p=0,000; OR=18,600) with leprosy. While there is no risk between levels of education (p= 0.107; OR=0.143), economic status (p=0.733; OR=0.625) and bathing habits (p=0.674; OR=0.471) with leprosy. The results of the multivariate analysis showed that the most dominant variable with the incidence of leprosy in the working area of the Elly Uyo Health Center was contact history (p=0.000; OR = 32.511). It is hoped that the community will not have too frequent contact with leprosy sufferers and maintain personal hygiene. Keywords: Leprosy, Elly Uyo Health Center, Risk Factors

Abstract

Introduction: Malaria is a disease caused by the Plasmodium parasite. This disease is transmitted through the bite of a female Anopheles mosquito which is infected with this parasite and attacks all humans. How to prevent it by avoiding or reducing malaria mosquito bites is not doing activities outside the house at night, sleeping under a mosquito net, smearing the body with anti-mosquito bite material. , installing screens on ventilation, cleaning mosquito breeding areas, clearing bushes or shady trees around the house or by doing 3M (burying, draining and covering). The aim of this service is to increase Malaria knowledge among students and train students on how to use mosquito nets correctly at the Biak Dormitory, Jayapura City. Methods: Malaria eradication action methods, namely lectures conducted by providing information about the correct use of mosquito nets and simulations, namely practicing how to use and care for mosquito nets correctly, the activity was carried out at the Biak Dormitory located in Padang Bulan, Jayapura City on November 29 2023. There were 13 participants involved in this activity who had the status of active students at several universities. high in Jayapura City. Results: The results of the action to eradicate Malaria with the correct use of mosquito nets before giving students knowledge material were still lacking at 38.4% or there were still 5 students. After receiving the material, student knowledge increased 100% or all students already had correct knowledge about Malaria. Conclusion: The real action carried out by students at the Biak Dormitory is an effort to eradicate Malaria at the right target, because students can disseminate information about malaria prevention locally and can help with the Malaria Elimination program by 2030.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the risk factors for HIV and AIDS incidence at the Harapan Health Center. Observational analytical research with a case control approach. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling. The population, namely all those who are tested for HIV and AIDS at the 2023-2024 Harapan Health Center, is 965 people with a sample size of 64 additional control cases. The results of bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between the number of sexual partners (p-v=0.001, OR=21,211, 2,565-175,404) and STI history (p-v=0.000, OR=8,273, 2,622-26,100) with the incidence of HIV and AIDS. Meanwhile, it did not show a significant relationship between age variables (p-v=0.708, OR=1.970, 0.390 - 8.220), gender (p-v=0.439, OR=1.711, 0.616 - 4.769), educational history (p-v=1.000, OR=0.802, 0.218-2.954), marital status (p-v=0.799, OR=1.296, 0.477-3.524), employment status (p-v=0.075, OR=0.345, 0.122-0.974), and the incidence of HIV and AIDS at the Harapan Health Center.
