Abstract

Community-based ecotourism (CBET) aims to empower local communities through engagement and participation in Cambodia. This study investigates the relationship among tourism destination love, community engagement, socio-cultural attributes, support for CBET, perceived impact likelihood, community economic benefits, and CBET development in ecotourism sites and biodiversity conservation by drawing on a case study of the main eight ecotourism areas in Cambodia. The study used a quantitative research approach to investigate and parameterize the dynamic ecotourism components, and to explore key factors influencing the CBET using a self-administered survey by intercepted 406 visitors and structured questionnaire items were asked local communities who provide tourism services to visitors in eco-tourism destination sites in November 2022 and March 2023. The results of SEM indicated that all relationships among research variables (as proposed in the conceptual model) were significantly impacted and confirmed by this study. This means that CBET requires additional essential support from the resources listed above in order to grow in local communities in Cambodia.

Abstract

Logistics and transportation are becoming increasingly significant in international trade relations as a means of promoting growth by enabling the export and import of goods in developing and developed countries. Hence, this study employs a logistic case study of Cambodia, providing detailed information about logistics performance, services, and capacity. Additionally, this study utilizes the strategy-structure-performance framework to investigate factors influencing a firm’s logistics service innovation capabilities and customer satisfaction, as well as the firm’s resource-based outlook through structural Equation Model (SEM) analysis. From December 2022 to February 2023, a self-administered survey with a structured questionnaire was used to collect data from 396 wholesalers in SMEs with relevant experience in using logistic services in Cambodia to examine the hypothesized relationships. According to the findings, key factors of demanded-oriented service, process capability, information process, and logistic service quality positively impacted to a firm’s logistic service and its innovation capability and customer satisfaction (Coef=0.96), while the other three research variables, customer orientation, physical supply flexibility, demand management flexibility, logistic service quality, and process competence, have a significant impact on logistic service innovation. This means that logistic services and innovation are very vital to satisfy the customers and growth in Cambodia.

Abstract

The informal economy accounts for a substantial share of economic activity across developing nations, where Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) serve as primary engines for job creation and income generation. Yet informality frequently confines these enterprises to persistent cycles of low productivity and economic vulnerability. Drawing on 12 studies published between 2000 and 2025, our systematic literature review examines the multifaceted barriers and pathways associated with transitioning informal SMEs into the formal economy, with particular attention to Cambodia. We synthesize theoretical frameworks on informal economy dynamics and SME development, analyze Cambodia's informal sector characteristics, identify formalization obstacles, and examine integration possibilities. Our literature search spanned multiple databases—JSTOR, Google Scholar, and repositories from the ILO, UNDP, World Bank, and ADB. We selected peer-reviewed articles and reports addressing informal economy and SME formalization in Cambodia and Southeast Asia more broadly. Our findings reveal that despite substantial barriers—financial constraints and regulatory complexities—targeted policy interventions can unlock considerable integration potential.
