Abstract

Women have the right to physical and mental health in order to be able to regulate and maintain fertility levels, and enjoy sexual life responsibly. However, women are very susceptible to stress, both working and non-working women. Where stressful conditions can affect reproductive health related to the hormonal function of the reproductive system. One alternative that can be used to reduce the impact of stress is by doing yoga. Yoga is thought to suppress cortisol secretion, where cortisol can cause estrogen imbalance through the activation mechanism of the HPA (Hypothalamus-Pituitary-Adrenal) axis and the HPO axis (Hypothalamus-Pituitary-Ovary). This study aims to analyze the effect of yoga on the estrogen hormone in women of childbearing age in the context of stress. The research design uses a posttest only control group design. Before the research began, the research team had received a certificate of Ethical Eligibility from the Health Research Ethics Commission of the Indonesian STRADA Institute of Health Sciences. The population in this study were WUS who were indicated to be stressed based on the DASS scale and had a normal menstrual cycle. Sampling uses purposive sampling. The sample in this study was 57 people who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The treatment group was given yoga 24 times with a duration of 60 minutes at each yoga session guided by a professional yoga instructor. Meanwhile, the control group did not receive any treatment, but was monitored every week to avoid samples dropping out.  Based on the results of the Mann-Whitney test, it shows a p value of 0.000. This shows that there are differences in estrogen levels in the control group and the treatment group. Yoga is considered effective in maintaining estrogen concentrations within normal limits. In this case, especially in women of childbearing age with stressful conditions. Yoga can have a positive impact both mentally and physically and maintain the function of vital organs such as the reproductive organs in women.

Abstract

Reproductive health knowledge is a critical aspect of adolescents' overall well-being, and its effective promotion plays a pivotal role in ensuring their long-term health and decision-making. In recent years, the utilization of video-based health education has gained popularity as a means of delivering information to this demographic. However, it was imperative to investigate the extent to which this innovative approach truly influences adolescents' knowledge. This study employed a quasi-experimental two-group pretest-posttest design and involved a total of 34 respondents who were selected through a comprehensive total sampling technique. The primary objective was to evaluate the impact of video-based health education on adolescents' knowledge of reproductive health. Statistical analysis was conducted using the Mann-Whitney Test and the Wilcoxon Test, revealing a statistically significant improvement in reproductive health knowledge among the participants, as indicated by a p-value of 0.000, which was less than the significance level of 0.05. These findings emphasized the effectiveness of video-based health education as a powerful tool in enhancing adolescents' comprehension of reproductive health matters. It underscores the importance of integrating video-based education into comprehensive health promotion strategies targeted at adolescents, as it has the potential to significantly contribute to their overall health awareness and decision-making capabilities.

Abstract

Primary dysmenorrhea is one of the most common complaints among adolescent girls and significantly affects their quality of life. Non-pharmacological management such as calcium-rich nutritional intake is considered an alternative solution. Soybeans are a good source of calcium and isoflavones, which are believed to help reduce menstrual pain. Objective: To determine the effect of soy milk consumption on the reduction of primary dysmenorrhea pain in adolescent girls. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest with control group approach. The sample consisted of 20 respondents, divided into two groups of 10. The intervention group was given soy milk, while the control group received health education. Data were analyzed using Paired Sample T-Test and Independent T-Test. Results: The analysis showed a significant difference in the reduction of dysmenorrhea pain scale before and after the intervention, with a p-value = 0.000 (p < 0.05). The group that received soy milk experienced a greater reduction in pain compared to the control group. Soy milk has a significant effect on reducing primary dysmenorrhea pain in adolescent girls. This effect is likely due to the calcium and isoflavone content in soy, which plays a role in uterine muscle contraction.

Abstract

Hypertension stands as a primary peril for cardiovascular ailments, potentially culminating in fatalities by inducing complications like heart disease, stroke, and kidney issues. This study scrutinizes the prevalence and risk factors associated with hypertension at Puskesmas Kedungrejo Muncar, Banyuwangi, spotlighting age and body mass index (BMI) as pivotal predictors. Employing a descriptive analytic method with a cross-sectional design, data was gathered through purposive sampling from 64 individuals. Findings unveil a significant correlation between advancing age and hypertension, aligning with previous research attributing this link to deteriorating cardiovascular function and arterial stiffness. Meanwhile, gender and educational attainment emerged as non-significant predictors, contrasting with the notable influence of BMI, with hypertensive individuals often exhibiting a normal BMI. These results accentuate the necessity of comprehending modifiable risk factors like BMI and emphasize the requisite for targeted interventions to combat hypertension in the community. Prevention and management endeavors ought to prioritize age-related considerations and initiatives aimed at fostering healthy BMI levels.
