Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of non-moral actions in children. Providing character education using the Pancasila student profile, which contains six elements, is crucial for children aged 7–12 years or elementary school-age children. At this age, it is the initial foundation for providing character education to children. Elementary school-age children are easily influenced by what they see and hear, so they are easy to imitate. This research aims to describe the relevance of the profile values of Pancasila students according to the films Adit and Sopo Jarwo. The film is packaged for children and provides a positive message. This research use a qualitative method with a content analysis research design. The data collection technique uses non-participatory observation, which is carried out by observing audiovisuals and translating them into narratives. The primary data source was obtained directly from original sources from the first party, namely through the films Adit and Sopo Jarwo on YouTube. The secondary data sources are notes and journals. In this research, data analysis uses semiotic analysis with the Charles Sander Pierce approach, namely sign (a sign that refers to a person), object (something referred to by the sign), and interpretant (the meaning of the sign) introduced by Charles Sander Pierce.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of providing apperception before learning because there are still many teachers in several schools who do not provide apperception before learning activities begin. With this, students feel they are not ready to receive lessons, so they cannot concentrate when studying. This research aims to describe students' responses after participating in learning, which begins with the apperception of riddles and the level of learning concentration of class V students at SD N 2 Kuwiran. This type of research is descriptive and qualitative. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique uses interactive techniques, which consist of four activities carried out: data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this research show that the apperception of riddles can make students feel enthusiastic and happy when learning, which is shown by cheerful faces, good responses, and always paying attention to what the teacher says from beginning to end. Apart from that, students become more concentrated in studying and have a high level of concentration because they are able to fulfill six learning concentration indicators out of the seven existing indicators.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to describe teachers' strategies for addressing early reading difficulties. Methodology: The research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, and documentation. The study was conducted at SD N 3 Kudi, with research subjects consisting of the school principal, a first-grade teacher, six first-grade students, and their parents. Data validity was ensured through technique triangulation and source triangulation, with data analysis conducted using an interactive model. Results: The results reveal that: (1) Teacher strategies in instruction encompass lesson planning, the use of varied instructional strategies, and learning evaluation and follow-up, (2) Teacher approaches involve individual, group, and emotional approaches, and (3) Challenges to teacher strategies include factors related to interest, cognition, psychology, health, and environment. Applications/Originality/Value: Teachers play a crucial role in selecting strategies to enhance reading success in the classroom. Initial reading difficulties are a challenge for teachers in determining effective strategies. Strategies that are varied and tailored to students' needs can boost motivation in learning to read. Supportive facilities, along with good communication and cooperation between teachers and parents, can significantly enhance reading skills.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to describe how teachers instill social norms to overcome and improve students' morals through Pancasila and Citizenship Education (PPKn) at Muhammadiyah Alam Surya Mentari Elementary School. Methodology: This study uses a qualitative methodology with a descriptive approach, combining observation and observation as data collection techniques to understand the role of teachers in instilling social norms in grade 4. Results: This study revealed that social norms are formed through collaborative learning and discussion activities, helping individuals understand the importance of social norms in everyday life. Factors that influence social norms in today's children are due to technological advances and the lack of parental roles in shaping children's characters. In instilling social norms, teachers provide varied learning and the important role of parents in shaping children's characters. Applications/Originality/Value: This study highlights the greater correlation between schools and parents which ensures good management in home and school environment in shaping the character and morals of students for the better.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to describe how the ISMUBA curriculum is implemented at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta, to outline the specific indicators of Islamic character embedded within that implementation, and to identify both the challenges encountered and the evaluation processes used in carrying out the curriculum. Methodology: Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the research was conducted at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta with the curriculum itself as the object of study. Participants included the curriculum vice principal, teachers, and students in grades 2 and 5. Data were gathered through interviews with school leaders and educators, classroom and congregational observations, and review of relevant documentation. To ensure validity, the study used source triangulation—drawing on multiple informants—and technique triangulation— using various data‐collection methods. Data analysis proceeded through the stages of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. Results: Implementation began with detailed planning, followed by regular ISMUBA activities such as murojaah, Quran memorization, Quran writing exercises, and congregational dhuha, dhuhr, ashar, and Friday prayers. The curriculum integrates three key indicators of Islamic character: faith and piety, noble morals, and social responsibility. Internally, the program faces challenges related to differing teacher competencies and student abilities; externally, it must adapt to shifting national education policies, notably the flexibility required by the Kurikulum Merdeka. Applications/Originality/Value: By mapping the full cycle from planning to evaluation, this study provides a replicable model for other primary schools aiming to incorporate faith‑based character development into their curricula. It highlights the importance of systematic evaluation and ongoing teacher training as effective strategies for mitigating competency gaps and policy changes, offering practical insights for educators and administrators seeking to enhance Islamic character education.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to explore how the character of learning discipline is applied among students at MI Muhammadiyah Karanganyar and to identify the internal and external factors influencing its habituation as well as its impacts on student outcomes. Recognizing that disciplined learning habits are foundational for academic success yet often difficult for learners to maintain, the research investigates how discipline character is fostered across school, home, and tutoring environments. Methodology: Employing a descriptive qualitative design, data were collected through in‑depth interviews with students, teachers, and parents, alongside direct observations of classroom and study‑support settings. To ensure validity, the study applied both source triangulation—drawing insights from multiple stakeholder perspectives—and technique triangulation, combining verbal reports with observed behaviors. Data analysis followed an interactive model of coding, categorization, and thematic synthesis before drawing conclusions based on converging evidence. Results: The findings reveal that learning discipline is actively cultivated through structured class routines, consistent parental reinforcement at home, and guidance in tutoring sessions. Internally, students’ self‑motivation and sense of responsibility emerged as critical drivers of disciplined behavior, while externally, parental support and peer influences played reinforcing roles. Habitual discipline led to measurable improvements in students’ time‑management skills, increased accountability for tasks, and the creation of a more positive and focused learning environment. Applications/Originality/Value: By demonstrating that effective character habituation requires coordinated efforts among schools, families, and broader community contexts, this study underscores the importance of a holistic approach to character education. Its insights can inform school policies, parent‑engagement programs, and tutor‑training initiatives aimed at embedding discipline habits in learners, thereby better preparing them to face both academic challenges and life’s broader demands.
