Abstract

In this search, our focus is on Middle-Eastern radicalism and its impact on the Indonesian nation. It seems that radicalism in the Middle East arises from its own historical, political and cultural context. Therefore, it is very peculiar to apply it in this country, since Indonesia has its own particular historical, political and cultural context. However, it is inevitable that the notion of radicalism has entered Indonesia through certain groups, individuals, social media, or networks affiliated with radicalist networks in the Middle East. This fact needs to be addressed by establishing a deradicalization institution and by preserving the treasures of the arts, culture and ethics of the country, Nusantara.

Abstract

This paper focuses on exploring the role of women in the Roko Molas Poco rite in Manggarai. This study applies a discourse approach by referring to Simone de Beauvoir's concept of feminism. She views women as "the Other," often an object in a patriarchal society. The patriarchal system adopted by the Manggaraians is deeply rooted and thus influences the treatment of women. Femininity has a very important meaning in this rite, because the wood called siri bongkok (main pole) is symbolized as virgin who will provide life, offspring, fertility for humans. It’s a symbol that connects humans with nature and humans with each other and humans with the Supreme Being. This rite in itself affirms the high appreciation for the existence of women as Simone de Beaouvoir. The concept of womanhood in the Roko Molas Poco rite is a living critique of the patriarchal system that oppresses and otherizes women.

Abstract

This paper is about Pope John Paul II's views on the theology of the body and sexuality. Pope John Paul II intended to show that the human body is God's way of revealing Himself. The transcendent God, who is invisible, who cannot be seen with the human sense of sight, can be known by human beings, His creation, through the human body. The body is more than just the physically visible body, what is outwardly visible, what is capable of being sensually perceived, the body is also capable of showing a reality that goes beyond the outward dimension alone. The body is able to make visible what is invisible; the spiritual and the divine. The Theology of the Body according to John Paul II aims to transfer into the reality of the world, a fundamental interpretation of the fundamental meaning of the human body. The issue of human trafficking that occurs today does not show respect for the human body as God's creation. Human trafficking is an affront to the dignity of the human body from the perspective of John Paul II's theology of the body.

Abstract

This paper focuses on an elaboration of the implications of SEMA No. 2 of 2023 for interfaith marriages/ Disparitas Cultus in Indonesia. The implications are raised from a discussion with the Republic of Indonesia Law on Marriage and the perspective of Catholic Church Law as seen in the Code of Canon Law. The methodology used is descriptive qualitative and critical reading of the text, namely: The Code of Canon Law that regulates Disparitas Cultus (especially Canon 1086, Canon 1125, Canon 1126, and other related canons) and Law Number 1 of 1974 article 2 paragraph (1) juncto article 66; and other related laws. The author finds that SEMA No. 2 Year 2023 raises quite complex issues. The complexity lies in the consequences. First, the state more explicitly does not recognize Disparitas Cultus marriages. Second, the state is not present to accommodate the interests of people who enter into Cult Disparity marriages. Third, there is a question of justice for those who continue to enter into these marriages. Fourth, the strong and fair foundation or motive of a legal decision is not raised.

Abstract

This paper aims to explore the kingship of Jesus within the context of human suffering, focusing on how the power of God remains present even amid situations of apparent powerlessness. Employing an analytical approach to the Gospel of John, this study examines the dialogue between Jesus and Pilate as well as the symbolism of the crown of thorns, which both highlight the nature of His regal identity. The methodology combines textual and theological analysis, emphasizing the Christological dimension that links Jesus’ suffering to God's salvific plan. The findings reveal that Jesus’ authority as King is not expressed through domination but is manifested through sacrifice and humility. In His experience of suffering, God demonstrates that He does not remain passive but actively engages in the redemption of human affliction. This paper concludes that the self-offering of Jesus redefines the meaning of suffering and invites readers to recognize God's presence in the midst of life’s trials.

Abstract

This paper intends to reflect philosophically as well as to promote the need for a peaceful politics in resolving the conflict of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Papua. This elaboration is reviewed based on Wahid's words and political legacy. The methodology used is the analysis of the text through critical reading that listens to the understanding and concept of peaceful politics according to the spark of Wahid's thought. The author assumes that the prolonged conflict that occurs in Papua, namely the conflict stirred up by the KKB, is one of the biggest threats to the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia. The Indonesian government's decision to upgrade the KKB's status as a terrorist group presupposes the deployment of security forces to hunt down KKB members. However, this has not been the right solution, because in fact the conflict continues to this day. Therefore, the government needs to promote appropriate and relevant solutions so that the disintegration of the nation does not occur. The author finds that humanism and Wahid's ideas about the politics of peace that adhere to the principles of equality and liberation can stem various social and political problems, especially the escalation of conflict in Papua.
