Abstract

This study aims at exploring an increase in students' conceptual understanding of the topic of Newtonian mechanics after receiving a recitation program containing conceptual practice questions with contexts containing local wisdom and various representations, as well as describing difficulties in working on Newtonian mechanics questions. The research method used is the mix method - embedded experimental model with one group pretest and posttest design. The research was conducted on 20 students of class X. The instrument to measure students' conceptual mastery was in the form of 10 multiple choice questions and to measure the difficulties faced by students was an unstructured interview guide. The research data were analyzed using inferential tests so that the results showed that there were differences before and after the recitation program with a gain value of 0.60 in the medium category and the impact strength value of 1.87 in the high category. on students' mastery of concepts. The difficulties faced by students, in general, are interpreting physics symbols and understanding the meaning of the problem to determine the right equation to solve the problem. The implications of the research results on education are that it can be an alternative in increasing students' mastery of concepts and identifying student difficulties for evaluation to optimize the next learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the improvement of students' concept mastery and learning outcomes based recitation program accompanied by multi-representation and feedback about dynamic fluid. The topic raised in this study is about dynamic fluids. The pretest and posttest were used to measure students' learning outcomes using the same instrument. Meanwhile, students' conceptual mastery was measured using multiple-choice questions based on multi-representations during the formative assessment. This research and development refers to the research and development (R&D) method by referring to the 4-D model with stages namely Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate which was conducted on 36 students of SMA Negeri 3 Magetan who were taking fluid dynamics material. The validation results by material experts showed that the developed recitation program had an average percentage of 3.58 (very valid), from media experts 3.46 (very valid), and validation of multi-representation questions and feedback by experts 3.90 (very valid). Thus, the overall average of the recitation program assessment results by experts was categorized as valid. The developed recitation program received a very good response from students. This can be seen from the average student response of 97.2% (very good). The results of the study showed that there was a significant difference in students who used the recitation program having a concept mastery level of 80.9% which was higher than students who did not use the recitation program which was only 54.9%. Based on the validation results from experts, the product in the form of an apprenticeship- based recitation program is very valid for use in the learning process. The results showed that students' conceptual mastery improved significantly with the N-gain of 0.29. The number of problem and multi-contexts problem are the factors causing the success of the recitation program in improving students' conceptual understanding.

Abstract

The results of the identification of the objective conditions of learning in schools show problems, including students who memorize the material, but do not understand and are unable to connect physics material with the application of local wisdom in everyday life. This study aims to develop a local wisdom-based physics e-module product that was developed in terms of the components of illustration presentation, language, and material suitability for students' critical thinking and scientific argumentation skills on the Newtonian mechanics topics. Product development refers to the ADDIE research model (Analysis, Design, Develop, Implementation, Evaluation). The results of validation by material experts show that the local wisdom-based physics e-module developed has an average percentage of 93.83% (very valid), from media experts at 84.72% (quite valid), and learning experts at 97.22 % (very valid). Therefore, the overall average of the results of the local wisdom-based physics e-module media assessment by the experts is 92.59% with a very valid category. The developed e-module learning media received very good responses from students. This can be seen from the average student response of 90.61% (very good). Based on the validation results from the experts, the product in the form of a physics e-module local wisdom-based is very valid to be used in the learning process.
