Abstract

The World Class University trend in higher education has an impact on the need for planning in the research aspect because the quantity and quality of research are very influential in global university rankings. This research explores planning strategies as well as challenges and obstacles in efforts to increase the research productivity of lecturers in the Building Engineering Education Study Program, Universitas Negeri Jakarta based on the perspective of the study program coordinator. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach using data collection techniques in the form of documentation complete with interviews with the study program coordinator. Some of the plans carried out by the study program to increase lecturer research productivity include the 1 lecturer 1 publication per year program, expanding cooperation and collaboration with national and international universities in research and scientific publications, holding international scientific article publication workshops, initiating collaboration with industry in the field of research and forming a research team of lecturers. The obstacles and challenges faced by the study program include lecturer workload, resources, funding, and research administration burden.

Abstract

The growing competition between universities has led public universities to develop internal competitiveness, including student loyalty as a strategic asset. However, previous studies have shown inconsistencies in the results and have seldom applied higher-order constructs to analyze the public university service quality. This study evaluates university service quality and its impact on student loyalty, emphasizing the mediating role of student satisfaction. This study was conducted at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Jakarta. The data analysis technique employed PLS-SEM with the disjoint two-stage approach, which is more accurate in handling higher-order constructs on service quality. The findings indicate that public university service quality and student satisfaction influence student loyalty positively and significantly. Public university service quality also influences student satisfaction positively and significantly. Additionally, student satisfaction acts as a partial mediation between service quality and student loyalty. These findings underscore theoretically and practically that public universities should prioritize initiatives that improve service dimensions that impact student satisfaction and loyalty, such as students’ skill development. By integrating higher-order constructs for service quality, this study contributes to a methodological framework and actionable insights for administrators to optimize quality management in public universities.

Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology has had a significant impact on higher education. This study aims to assess the level of knowledge, understanding, and use of AI among students in the context of final project preparation. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach to measure three main dimensions—knowledge, understanding, and practical use (application) in the context of academic research. The population in this study consisted of 172 students from the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, who were conducting academic research. The sampling technique employed was non-probability sampling, utilizing a purposive sampling approach. Data analysis used exploratory factor analysis (EFA). The results showed that students have excellent knowledge of AI. Meanwhile, the understanding of AI shows varying levels, with the majority falling into the sufficient and low categories, indicating a need to improve AI literacy. The use of AI by students is primarily focused on aspects of writing, research, and document creation, with a reasonably consistent usage pattern and an average duration of 1-2 hours per session. These findings confirm that students actively utilize various AI in the academic process, but still require training and supervision to ensure that AI use can be carried out ethically and responsibly. The results of this study are important as a basis for developing institutional policies and ethical regulations related to the integration of AI into academic processes, as well as a reference for designing effective training programs to improve students' competency in optimally utilizing AI technology.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: Analisa Kebutuhan, Media Pembelajaran, Mekanika Bahan  ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the needs of students towards the development of learning media in Mechanics of Material Course in Education of Building Engineering, State University of Jakarta. The needs assessment is carried out based on the first stage of the Lee and Owens model, which is assessment/analysis. The result of this study is a needs assessment whose main purpose is to identify gaps between the actual conditions and the conditions that should be. Data collection in this study used a questionnaire with the qualitative data types. The questionnaire was distributed using google form so that the respondents can fill out the questionnaire online. The period for filling out the questionnaire is May 16th “ 17th, 2019. Based on the results of the needs assessment that has been done, there are several problems in the learning media that are used: (1) learning media that are used is mediocre that it is less motivating to learning, (2) learning material including difficult material, but an understanding of the material is medium, and (3) learning material used is still in the form of presentation media. Keywords: Needs Assessment, Learning Media, Mechanics of Material
