Abstract

The analysis of cashiers' work postures aims to minimize or avoid musculoskeletal problems. The research uses Quick Exposure Check (QEC) to identify working condition problems that focus on the back, shoulders, arms, and neck. The goal is to improve working conditions by reducing the risk of worker fatigue, unergonomic work postures, and musculoskeletal pain, which leads to increased productivity. To determine the extent of musculoskeletal disorders, the research method uses a quick exposure check that focuses on the upper body, including the back, neck, arms/shoulders, and wrists, which are common problem areas for workers. Based on the collected data, the exposure score and level are calculated to determine the follow-up to the research. The data shows that 50% of cashiers have an exposure level of 50 - 60%, and further research and changes are required. Meanwhile, another 50% of cashiers have an exposure level value above 70%, requiring immediate research and changes. The conclusion of this analysis is that it is essential to continuously check and maintain the ergonomics of the cashier's work. Regular inspections and necessary corrective actions must be conducted to ensure ergonomic working conditions and protect the health of cashiers.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to design and implement a candy color sorter device using a microcontroller-based TCS3200 color sensor. This technology can be applied in the confectionery and fruit businesses for color-based sorting. The method used is an experimental approach that begins with a literature study, followed by hardware and software design, and device testing. The research results show that the candy sorter device was successfully designed and implemented. This device is capable of sorting candies based on red, green, and blue colors with optimal sensor detection levels. The novelty value of this research is the development of an automatic candy sorter device based on the TCS3200 color sensor, which can help reduce human workload and increase sorting process efficiency in the confectionery industry.

Abstract

Innovation to improve environmental impact was conducted by PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Fuel Terminal Cikampek in accordance with the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) analysis. One of them is related to reducing the load of water pollution by creating the Masaco Filter innovation (Water Hyacinth Cellulose Membrane). The innovation was created in line with the linkage of LCA and social innovation to answer a hotspot related to the impact of eutrophication. The Masaco filter applied to the domestic Instalasi Pengelolaan Air Limbah (IPAL) or wastewater management installation of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Fuel Terminal Cikampek could reduce BOD levels by 56.83%, COD by 28.86%, TSS by 79.60%, Oil and Fat by 27.60%, and Oil and Fat by 27.60%. 79.60%, Oil and Fat 27.27%, and Total coliform 3.50% based on the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia Number: P.68/Menlhk-Setjen/2016 concerning Domestic Wastewater Quality Standards. The Masaco filter applied to the Clean Water Management Installation or Instalasi Pengelolaan Air Bersih (IPAB) in the implementation of the Ngabedahkeun Walahar Program (Ngalindungi Baberengan Danau Cinta Kanggo Ekosistem Keberlanjutan) resulted in a reduction in Escherichia Coli levels from 100 CFU/100ml to 0 CFU/100ml and Total Coliform from 7 CFU/100ml to 0 CFU/100ml, Total Dissolve Solid which was previously 450 mg/L to 218 mg/LP, and dissolved manganese which was previously 30 mg/L to 0.01 mg/L so as to produce clean water hygiene and sanitation following the Minister of Health Regulation No. 2 of 2023 concerning Environmental Health Quality Standards.

Abstract

In Somaliland, electricity is an expensive necessity. The high expense of electricity presents challenges for industrial development in Somaliland. Existing industries must operate efficiently to survive, specifically in the manufacturing sector, which relies heavily on electrical machinery. The compressor is widely used in manufacturing to provide the air supply to production machines, including CNC machines. However, in some cases, the air supply from the compressor is not supplied efficiently due to air leakage in standby mode. This research aims to solve this issue by implementing an integrated system that reduces energy waste caused by compressed air leakage during standby mode. This research is grounded in the application of the TRIZ contradiction matrix, which identified Inventive Principle #28 (Mechanics Substitution) as a potential solution. The proposed solution was subsequently implemented and evaluated using a pilot experimental method within the context of a case study conducted at a manufacturing company located in Hargeisa, Somaliland. The result led to the successful implementation and testing of a control system that integrated the operations of the compressor machine and CNC machine. Compared to the conventional ball valve components, the new system replaced it with an automatic air control valve integrated with the CNC machine emergency button. Electricity consumption on the compressor machine was observed and calculated for twelve months before improvement and twelve months after implementing the improvements. The data was collected for a total of 24 months to compare before improvements and after improvements for each 12 months in a machine. The improvements showed a significant reduction in electricity consumption, from 10,982 kWh to 9,830 kWh representing 10.49% energy savings, and reduced electricity operating costs by SOS 605,952 (USD 1,067) in 12 months.
