Abstract

The purpose of this service is to find alternative feed to replace commercial feed by utilizing maggot from black soldier flies (Hermetia illucens) or Black Soldier Fly (BSF) which is high in protein and the use of automatic feeding tools based on the Internet of Things (IOT) to reduce feed costs, feeding time and increase catfish production. This service was carried out for 6 months with several stages, namely the preparation stage, socialization of the PKM program, BSF fly cultivation to maggot harvesting, making IOT-based automatic feeding tools, technology application training stage, operational assistance stage, evaluation monitoring stage. Based on the results of the activity, it shows that before the implementation of the training, group members did not understand how to cultivate BSF flies. However, after the training, all group members could understand it well. Furthermore, in the activity of implementing automatic feeding equipment, the fish base group is directly involved in full so that they can operate the equipment independently later. It can be concluded that the program implementation was able to provide an understanding of BSF fly cultivation and the application of IOT-based automatic feeding devices. The implementation of the program has a positive impact, especially for the Fish Base group so that it can reduce feed costs and can control feeding appropriately so that it is more effective and efficient in accelerating the production process.

Abstract

The students (santri) at Dayah Madinatuddiniyah Miftahul Jannah have been practicing conventional vegetable cultivation, which requires large areas of land, inefficient fertilization, and is highly susceptible to pests and diseases. To address these issues, training on plant cultivation using the hydroponic eco tower system was conducted to enhance the students' skills. This community service (PkM) activity aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of the students in cultivating plants using the hydroponic eco tower system, thereby potentially enhancing their economic well-being. The methods involved include location surveys, socialization of the PkM activities, implementation of the PkM program, mentoring and monitoring, as well as evaluation after the program's execution. Data were analyzed using both descriptive qualitative and quantitative approaches. The training results showed an increase in learning interest by 87.17%, participant knowledge by 94.85%, and skills by 96.73%, which have the potential to improve the students’ economy and foster independence. Thus, this activity has had a positive impact in minimizing and overcoming the limitations of agricultural land use.

Abstract

Masalah pengelolaan sampah di Kabupaten Padang Pariaman masih menjadi isu serius, termasuk di lingkungan sekolah dasar, yang ditandai dengan rendahnya kesadaran siswa dalam memilah dan membuang sampah pada tempatnya. Kegiatan ini bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman dan kepedulian siswa terhadap pentingnya pemilahan sampah sejak dini melalui sosialisasi yang bersifat edukatif dan interaktif. Sosialisasi dilaksanakan di SDN 31 VII Koto Sungai Sariak. Metode yang digunakan meliputi ceramah interaktif, diskusi, simulasi pemilahan sampah, pembagian leaflet edukatif, dan kuis. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman siswa terhadap jenis sampah organik dan anorganik Kegiatan ini terbukti efektif sebagai langkah awal pendidikan lingkungan dan Melalui kegiatan ini, siswa paham bahaya yang ditimbulkan oleh sampah serta pentingnya pemilahan dan pemanfaatan sampah sebagai upaya mengurangi penumpukan sampah.
