Abstract

Lectures are textual, and students have yet to actively participate in learning activities actively, making learning less meaningful. This research analyses the need for developing contextual approach learning tools based on local Balinese wisdom. This research is survey research. The methods used to collect data are questionnaires, interviews, observation and document study. The instrument used to collect data was a questionnaire sheet. The technique used to analyze data is qualitative descriptive analysis. The research results are, first, that the approach applied in science skills development courses has yet to be effective. Second, one of the difficulties currently experienced by lecturers is that science learning material needs to be connected to the local context or wisdom. Third, lecturers understand the concept of contextual learning, but learning implementation still needs improvement. One of the things that causes learning activities with contextual concepts to be less than optimal is that they need to be integrated or included in the semester lecture plan. Fourth, a contextual approach will have a positive impact that will improve the learning experience. Fifth, using a contextual approach in learning science skills in elementary school helps students understand and apply it to their lives. It was concluded that developing learning tools with a contextual approach based on local wisdom is very important.

Abstract

The teaching of Pancasila Education in elementary schools still predominantly relies on conventional methods, such as lectures and textbooks, which result in low student participation and limited critical thinking and communication skills. The dominance of conventional teaching methods tends to restrict student interaction, thereby hindering the effective development of their critical reasoning and communication abilities. This study aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of animation-based video learning media in enhancing students' critical thinking and communication skills. The research employs a development research approach using the Research and Development (R&D) design. The study subjects consist of elementary school students who participated in Pancasila Education lessons using animation video media, with a sample size of 83 students.Data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis and inferential statistical tests. The findings indicate that the use of animation-based video media enhances student engagement in learning and deepens their understanding of the subject matter. Additionally, students’ critical thinking skills showed significant improvement, as evidenced by their enhanced ability to identify, analyze, and evaluate information more effectively.

Abstract

Abstract

Pancasila Education in elementary schools is a learning process designed to instill Pancasila values from an early age through knowledge mastery, attitude habituation, and the application of behaviors that reflect morals, ethics, and national character. However, student learning outcomes in this subject remain relatively low, partly due to the lack of engaging media suited to elementary school characteristics. As an essential foundation, Pancasila Education plays a key role in shaping students’ character, especially in strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile. This study aimed to develop an interactive video learning media called Animatoon based on the Pancasila Student Profile to improve fourth-grade students’ learning outcomes. The research used the ADDIE development model, which includes analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, and tests, and analyzed using both quantitative descriptive and qualitative descriptive methods. The results indicated that: (1) the Animatoon interactive video is valid and practical based on expert evaluations and student trials, and (2) the media is effective in enhancing learning outcomes, supported by the Paired Sample T-Test result with a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05). These findings demonstrate that the Animatoon video is not only feasible but also effective for use in elementary school learning, particularly in Pancasila Education. In conclusion, the development of this interactive video contributes to improving student learning outcomes while supporting the strengthening of the Pancasila Student Profile. Moreover, it has implications for enhancing both the quality of learning and overall educational outcomes.
