Abstract

Unsur hara Kalsium (Ca) dan Magnesium (Mg) merupakan unsur penting yang dibutuhkan tanaman dalam jumlah yang relatif besar. Namun, pada jenis tanah tertentu, tanaman seringkali tidak menerima pasokan unsur hara yang cukup, terutama akibat pencucian dan erosi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sebaran unsur hara makro Ca dan Mg pada tanah Ultisol pada berbagai lereng di Kecamatan Panga Kabupaten Aceh Jaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metodologi deskriptif-kuantitatif yang terdiri dari tiga tahap: tahap persiapan berupa tinjauan pustaka dan penyusunan peta administrasi, peta jenis tanah, dan peta kemiringan lereng untuk menentukan Lokasi Titik Pengambilan Sampel (SPL); penetapan SPL untuk pengambilan contoh tanah di lapangan; dan pemeriksaan sampel tanah selanjutnya di laboratorium. Hasil analisis kimia tanah menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata Ca-dd dan Mg-dd pada lereng dengan kisaran 0-8% menunjukkan perbedaan nyata, dengan Ca-dd berkriteria sedang dan Mg-dd berkriteria tinggi. Sebaliknya, pada kemiringan lereng antara 8-15%, nilai Ca-dd menunjukkan kriteria yang sangat rendah sedangkan nilai Mg-dd menunjukkan kriteria yang tinggi. Oleh karena itu, praktik pengelolaan unsur hara yang efektif sangat penting untuk tanah Ultisol di Panga, Kabupaten Aceh Jaya, termasuk pengapuran dan pemupukan sebagai strategi potensial.

Abstract

In Aceh, Indonesia, climate change is predicted to reduce land availability and suitability for Arabica coffee production by 90% by 2050. Arabica coffee farming is and will be more impacted by climatic events as a result of such climate change among commercial crops. This study examines how coffee farmers in Aceh Tengah and Bener Meriah (Gayo Highlands), two of Indonesia's major Arabica coffee producing areas, perceive changes in climate, their personal susceptibility to the impacts of climate change, and their coping/adaptation strategies. Focus Group Discussions were carried out with twenty-eight coffee farmers and ten local experts were interviewed to gain information on the topics. The data analysis from FGD and interviews show the multiple stresses of rainfall and temperature on Arabica coffee productivity in Gayo Highlands. Findings indicate that coffee producers have only moderate concerns about climate issues despite the harm climate change poses to the industry. The continuous and current effects of climate change may endanger coffee production and its sustainability in Gayo Highlands, thereby highlighting the potential for negative impacts on the livelihoods of local communities, which could further exacerbate the welfare challenges faced by their families.  A number of suggestions were made to help the parties involved create better adaptation plans that are tailored to the needs, interests, and capacities of the farmers.

Abstract

Coal mining plays a crucial role in global energy production and regional development, including in Aceh, Indonesia, where operations such as PT. Mifa Bersaudara contribute to energy supply and employment. This study evaluated the revegetation success of three fast-growing species (Falcataria moluccana, Enterolobium cyclocarpum, and Gmelina arborea) in post-mining reclamation areas planted in 2017 and 2018. Planting was performed at a uniform spacing of 4 × 4 m across 27 plots (8 in 2017, 19 in 2018), each measuring 20 × 20 m and containing 25 trees per plot, with a sampling intensity of 3%. Analyzed using descriptive statistics, two-way ANOVA with Tukey HSD, t-test, and Wilcoxon rank-sum tests. Results showed F. moluccana achieved the highest height (17.53 ± 24.75 m in 2017; 10.73 ± 2.88 m in 2018) and diameter (22.25 ± 8.12 cm in 2017; 31.84 ± 11.59 cm in 2018), followed by E. cyclocarpum, while G. arborea grew more slowly. Survival rates of the planted trees remained relatively high in both planting years, with 80.0 ± 19.0% in 2017 and 70.2 ± 16.9% in 2018, and statistical analysis indicated no significant difference between the two years. Fast-growing species enhanced canopy cover, soil stabilization, and microhabitats, supporting slower-growing species, and their combination is recommended to optimize short-term revegetation success and long-term ecosystem resilience in degraded areas.
