Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the improvement in students' mathematical problem-solving abilities using the Problem Based Learning model in Class XI-6 of SMA Negeri 11 Semarang. This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) involving 36 students of Class XI-6 as subjects. The research was conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of one meeting and each meeting comprising two hours of instruction. To assess the improvement in students' mathematical problem-solving abilities, evaluations were conducted at the end of each cycle. The data obtained show that there was an improvement in students' mathematical problem-solving abilities before and after the implementation of the intervention. This is evidenced by the consistent increase in students' academic performance. The average problem-solving ability in Cycle 2, using the Problem-Based Learning model, reached the Minimum Competency Criteria (KKTP) of 75. The proportion of students achieving mastery in problem-solving abilities based on the KKTP standard also reached 75%.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa SMA dalam menyelesaikan soal word problem pada materi matriks dilihat dari kemampuan literasi siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu penelitian kualitatif. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 36 siswa kelas XI.A-1 SMA Negeri 11 Semarang, kemudian dapat dipilih 3 orang berdasarkan tingkat kemampuan literasi siswa, yaitu 1 subjek dengan kemampuan literasi siswa yang tinggi,  1 subjek dengan kemampuan literasi siswa yang sedang, dan 1 subjek dengan kemampuan literasi siswa yang rendah. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen berdasarkan kemampuan literasi siswa, tes soal word problem, dan wawancara untuk memunculkan pemikiran kreatif. Keabsahan data ini menggunakan triangulasi metode. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) Siswa berkemampuan literasi tinggi mampu menerapkan 4 indikator berpikir kreatif yaitu lancar dalam berpikir (fluency), berpikir luwes (flexibility), berpikir orisinil (originality), dan berpikir merinci (elaboration). 2) Siswa kemampuan sedang pada literasinya hanya mampu menyelesaikan masalah dengan 2 indikator yaitu kepekaan (problem sensitivity), lancar berpikir (fluency), berpikir merinci (elaboration). 3) Siswa kemampuan rendah pada literasinya belum mampu menyelesaikan masalah dengan 4 indikator berpikir kreatif. Kesimpulanya bahwa kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal word problem materi matriks dapat memenuhi semua indikator berdasarkan tingkat literasi yang dimiliki siswa masing-masing.
