Abstract

In supporting the process of monitoring high exhaust gas temperatures on the MV ship. Beautiful Food, still There were several problems with the company and crew related to the treatment of rinse air and high exhaust gas temperatures. The problem is the high level of non-optimal treatment of rinse air and frequent occurrence of surging on the turbocharger on board. Based on these problems, the authors conducted an analysis to determine whether there was an effect of rinse and surging air treatment on the turbocharger on the high exhaust gas temperature. The type of research used is quantitative method. Data was collected by using questionnaires distributed directly to 30 respondents, namely the third machinist who was taking ATT II class at the Jakarta Shipping Science College with a total of 20 statements. In looking for the results of the calculations the author uses the SPSS 25 program and performs several data analyzes, namely: multiple linear regression analysis, correlation test, validity test, determination test, f-test and t-test. Conclusions in this study were carried out by comparing the data obtained from the answers of existing respondents. Based on the acquisition of questionnaire data and data processing. The results showed that the rinse and surging air treatments on the turbocharger together proved to be positive and significant for the high exhaust gas temperature on the MV ship. Beautiful Food with F .value count > F table or 66.633 > 3.3. The author describes several solutions to improve monitoring activities for high temperatures exhaust gases, namely: the company and MV crew. Boga Indah must optimize air treatment rinse well, optimize cooling air temperature in performing rinse air maintenance, improve the cleanliness of the rinse air filter to obtain maximum rinse air quality, provide training to ship crews on proper and proper turbocharger operation can reduce the risk of surging, and the most important thing is to monitor the occurrence of surging on the turbocharger with a good strategy so that there are no obstacles and have a positive influence on the high exhaust gas temperature on the MV ship. Beautiful Food.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of enhancing teacher training and development programs for maritime instructors by focusing on improving both pedagogical skills and industry knowledge. The research explores applied management strategies in the fields of port, shipping, and logistics, aligning them with industry-specific educational needs. Qualitative perspectives from 5 maritime professionals, 5 lecturers, and 5 graduates working in maritime sectors were analyzed through descriptive analysis. The study aims to understand how maritime instructors can effectively integrate technical, promotional, marketing, and innovative skills into their teaching practices to better prepare students for the maritime industry. The data collection was conducted through structured interviews, observations, and focus group discussions. Findings indicate that improving teacher training not only enhances instructor competencies but also bridges the gap between maritime education and industry requirements. Key indicators include the effectiveness and efficiency of the training programs, with a performance score of 9/10 based on qualitative assessment. The paper discusses the implications for maritime vocational education, emphasizing the need for continuous improvement in instructor development. The study concludes with recommendations for further enhancing maritime teacher training programs by incorporating modern management practices and technological advancements to ensure that maritime education stays relevant to industry demands.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of safety culture and ship engine maintenance on accident prevention, which in turn affects maritime safety at PT Indo Container Lines. This research uses a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional research design. The sample used in this study consists of 107 crew members of PT Indo Container Lines, selected using the Slovin formula to determine a representative sample size. The data collected includes primary data obtained through questionnaires and interviews, as well as secondary data from the company's reports on safety and ship maintenance. The collected data was analyzed using SmartPLS software to test the relationships between the variables involved. The results of the study show that safety culture has a positive and significant impact on accident prevention, which in turn leads to improved maritime safety. These findings indicate that a strong safety culture, including awareness and safe behavior, plays a key role in reducing the risk of accidents during voyages. Additionally, ship engine maintenance was found to have a positive and significant impact on accident prevention, with well-maintained engines reducing the potential for technical failures that could jeopardize maritime safety. Accident prevention, driven by good engine maintenance and an applied safety culture, contributes to the overall enhancement of maritime safety. This study recommends that PT Indo Container Lines continue to strengthen the safety culture among its crew and enhance ship engine maintenance to support better maritime safety. By creating a safer work environment and ensuring that ships operate in optimal conditions, PT Indo Container Lines can reduce the risk of accidents and significantly improve maritime safety in the future
