Abstract

This study examines the factors that cause damage to containers during the loading and unloading process on full geared container deck ships with port destinations including Pasir Panjang Port (Singapore), Laem Chabang Port (Thailand), and Penang Port (Malaysia) and determines the priority problems that must be resolved immediately. This research uses mixed methods by combining quantitative and qualitative methods with an explanatory sequential design. The quantitative analysis used is the Urgency, Seriousness, and Growth (USG) method. Qualitative methods used observation, interviews, and documentation. The sample used is container damage on the MV. SS in the period August 2018 to August 2019. Causes of container damage during the loading and unloading process on the ship include the lack of supervision and concern of the crew for the security of containers during the loading and unloading process on the ship. From the results of USG method, it was found that container security activities were disrupted due to the duty crew participating in routine ship activities while at the port, even though the duty crew was fully responsible for reefer plug/unplug activities. Furthermore, there is no monitoring of the availability of loading and unloading equipment carried out by the crew so that the ship does not know the real number of lashing equipment on board.

Abstract

LPG / C Griya Borneo is a gas vessel with a semi-pressurized type, where the supporting components in the form of cargo handling equipment have a very big influence on the success and safety of ship operations. This is important to note because when the ship will carry out the loading process, the load temperature must be in accordance with the boiling point. High temperatures on ammonia loads can increase the pressure in the tank so that it exceeds the specified pressure limits and ammonia loads that have high temperatures need to be reliquefaction. In addition, the compressor compressor suction pressure that does not work in accordance with what is expected to affect the reliability process. This resulted in the reliquefaction process being longer than usual. The long reliquefaction process results in more fuel being used so that it costs a lot. Therefore the writer makes a thesis related to the problems experienced by the ship owned by PT Humpuss Transportasi Kimia aims to find out how much influence the compressor compressor suction pressure and tank pressure on the process of reliquefaction on the LPG / C Griya Borneo ship, the place where the authors practice.

Abstract

The maritime industry requires professionals who possess not only technical expertise but also strong ethical foundations and intercultural competence. This study offers a unique contribution by integrating Islamic values, such as humility, responsibility, and intercultural competence, into maritime cadet education, an area that remains underexplored in previous research. Unlike existing studies that primarily focus on technical or multicultural training, this research emphasizes character formation through religious and value-based education, aligning with the ethical demands of global maritime practice. This study aims to evaluate the extent to which Islamic values are embedded in cadet training programs, assess their effectiveness in shaping professional competencies, and recommend strategies for curriculum improvement. A qualitative research design was employed, involving semi-structured interviews and surveys with 20 stakeholders, including maritime professionals, lecturers, and recent graduates from Indonesian maritime institutions. Thematic analysis was used to categorize findings under the three core values. Data reliability was ensured through triangulation, expert validation of instruments, and cross-group comparison. The results reveal strong integration of Islamic values, with responsibility receiving the highest ratings, followed by humility and intercultural competence. While graduates confirmed the relevance of values in real-world settings, gaps were noted in experiential and intercultural training. The study highlights the strategic importance of values-based education in developing ethically grounded and globally competent seafarers. Recommendations include strengthening experiential learning, expanding multicultural exposure, and aligning curriculum with both industry standards and Islamic ethical principles.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of Single Truck Identification Data (STID) and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) on the smooth flow of goods and its implications on logistics efficiency at Tanjung Priok Port. The main issue faced at the port is the irregularity in the distribution of goods due to delays in vehicle verification and suboptimal safety conditions, which reduces logistics efficiency and affects the operational performance of the port. This study adopts a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, involving 380 respondents, including truck drivers, terminal operators, and port management, selected through purposive sampling. Data collection was carried out via questionnaires and analyzed using SmartPLS to test the direct and indirect effects among the variables. The results indicate that STID significantly affects the smooth flow of goods (t-statistic = 3.483) and logistics efficiency (t-statistic = 2.730), while OHS significantly affects the smooth flow of goods (t-statistic = 4.192) and logistics efficiency (t-statistic = 5.125). Additionally, both variables also have an indirect impact on logistics efficiency through the smooth flow of goods. In conclusion, the implementation of STID and OHS can improve logistics efficiency. It is recommended to strengthen the implementation of STID and the OHS program at the port. Future research could explore this further using a qualitative approach and longitudinal analysis.
