Abstract

Lung cancer is one of the deadliest cancers, with 2.21 million cases and 1.80 million deaths globally in 2020. In Indonesia, lung cancer is the third most common cancer with 34,783 cases in 2018. The five-year survival rate is very low, especially in advanced stages. Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is becoming increasingly popular among cancer patients as an adjunct to conventional therapy. This study aims to systematically review the impact of complementary and alternative therapies on lung cancer patients, evaluating the additional benefits of CAM in the treatment of lung cancer patients. This study employs a systematic review method, gathering data from scientific journals, clinical reports, and related publications, including PubMed, Science Direct, and SageJournal. The inclusion criteria were original research articles published in English between 2014 and 2024. Based on the search results, only 5 articles met the analysis criteria. The study shows that Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM), Laughter Yoga, and Press Needling can improve the quality of life for lung cancer patients. CHM increases progression-free survival (PFS) and reduces chemotherapy side effects. Laughter Yoga reduces stress and enhances mental health. Press Needling decreases postoperative pain and pulmonary complications. Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM) improves progression-free survival and overall survival (OS) for lung cancer patients, reduces chemotherapy side effects, and enhances quality of life without causing significant additional toxicity. CHM is widely accessible with insurance coverage, but interactions with modern medicine must be monitored.

The research approach used is a quantitative approach, namely the use of questionnaires and survey research techniques which are components of quantitative research. This study evaluates the relationship between knowledge and caregiver attitudes towards palliative care in the Melania Pedemangan nursing home. The results of the analysis showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between knowledge and caregiver attitudes, with a Pearson correlation of 0.537 and a significance value of 0.000. In conclusion, knowledge is effective in improving caregivers' attitudes towards palliative care in the Melania Pedemangan nursing home.

Abstract

Adolescents are a population group vulnerable to various reproductive health issues, making adequate knowledge essential for developing positive health behaviors. However, access to accurate reproductive health information remains limited. This community service program aimed to improve students' knowledge of reproductive health through educational activities. The program was conducted on May 29, 2026, at Senior High School X, involving 100 students through the stages of situation analysis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The intervention was delivered using lectures and interactive discussions, while the evaluation employed a pre-test and post-test design consisting of 10 questions. The results showed that 92% of students had previously received reproductive health information, primarily from the internet. Before the intervention, 42% of students had good knowledge, 54% had moderate knowledge, and 4% had poor knowledge. After the educational intervention, the proportion of students with good knowledge increased to 91%, while the proportions with moderate and poor knowledge decreased to 8% and 1%, respectively. Reproductive health education proved effective in improving students' knowledge and should therefore be implemented continuously by involving schools and healthcare professionals.
