Abstract

Education and marriage are noble acts of worship in the sight of Allah. It is common for young people to get married after completing their undergraduate education, but there are those who get married before completing their university studies, one of the aims of which is to avoid the sin of adultery and its intermediaries. Having a dual role as head of the family and tholibul ilmi is a great combination of worship to Allah Ta'ala. This research aims to open people's minds so that they do not feel hesitant to take the level of marriage with their condition as tholibul ilmi, because in fact there is no limit to learning and marriage is not a barrier to continuing education at a higher level. This research is a qualitative study that combines field and library research methods to obtain research data. The results of this study indicate that dual role owners must be able to divide time for each role and obligation, they must also have strategies to deal with challenges and conflicts that occur, they also have an afterlife orientation as a motivation in studying religious knowledge, and the importance of religious knowledge in family life, especially in children's education. Keywords:  Dual Role; Head of the Family; Knowledge Claimant.

Abstract

Marriage is a solemn act of worship for the perfection of religion, as is education in Islamic law. Combining these two acts of worship is not easy; in fact, it is fraught with challenges. This study aims to identify the factors of resilience in the households of married students at STDI Imam Syafi'i Jember and their relevance to the values of maqāṣid sharī'ah. This study is a qualitative study with a phenomenological approach, which is an approach to reveal the phenomena experienced by a group of individuals clearly. The results of this study found that there are two types of household resilience factors, namely positive factors, such as piety to Allah Ta'ala, open communication, ability in time and role management, sufficient economy, and commitment to study in Jember. Then there are negative factors, such as difficulties in time management, difficulties in earning a living, difficulties in managing emotions, and intervention from the extended family. These factors are closely related to the core values of maqāṣid sharī’ah: hifz al-dīn, hifz al-nafs, hifz al-nasl, hifz al-‘aql, and hifz al-māl. This study is expected to provide a deep understanding of the concept of maqāṣid sharī’ah in the context of household resilience and harmony.

Abstract

This study examines the epistemological structure underlying Mustafa al-Sibāʿī’s critique of Orientalist Hadith scholarship. Previous studies tend to portray his approach as objective and balanced, yet they largely remain descriptive and fail to critically interrogate its epistemological foundations. This study addresses this gap by analyzing whether al-Sibāʿī’s critique constitutes a genuinely critical engagement or primarily a normative defense of the Hadith tradition. Employing a qualitative library-based method, this research integrates discourse analysis, content analysis, and comparative epistemological analysis. The study focuses on al-Sibāʿī’s major works and compares his arguments with key Orientalist scholars such as Ignaz Goldziher and Joseph Schacht, as well as with contemporary Muslim scholars like Mustafa al-Aʿẓamī. The findings reveal that al-Sibāʿī combines internal Hadith criticism with selective empirical reasoning; however, his framework remains rooted in a tradition-based epistemology that produces asymmetrical critique. This study argues that the debate between classical Hadith scholarship and Orientalism reflects a contest between distinct epistemological systems. The novelty of this research lies in providing a systematic epistemological evaluation of al-Sibāʿī’s critique beyond descriptive and apologetic approaches.
